I'm a writer & I love to read. I don't like to limit myself to a single genre or author (as you can see) and I love finding gems (both old and new). I like a book that will make me laugh inappropriately, make me cry when the bad guy dies, or make me angry when the hero says something stereotypical. I don’t like books that I can predict in the...more »

Yeah, I love Tarot Cafe. It was one of the last manga that I picked up when I still worked retail a few years ago. I loved it. Similar vein as Pet Shop of Horrors with the vignette feel to them. Plus I loved the characters. I should pick up the last bits to the series though. I only have up through volume four.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Year of Living Biblically. Now, would you say it'd be a good read for a book club or might we be left high and dry when we try to talk about it? There are a couple of Jewish women in the group and we have encountered book that we don't have anything more to say about other then we liked it or hated it. What do you think?

You will have to tell me what you think of Christopher Golden's Shadow Saga especially when you are done with the last book. I really liked the books though the first was not the strongest. I love Peter and Cody.

I actually own that book but it's one of the ones that's been on my "in midst of" pile for ages.
There's quite a few good authors in that pile.
    It's in good company.

Please tell me what you think of The Mocking Program.
I love that author but never could get myself started on that book.
    I don't know why exactly ...
    Maybe I should try again.

    Thanks for the add!

I would love to work at the library but then I would only find more books and authors to add to my ever-growing list of stuff to read (though I have a feeling this site is going to do the same thing). And now that I've started reading manga it's gotten ten times worse.

I'm such an addict! I wonder if my mother knew the monster she was creating when she started me reading as a kid....^_^

Thank you very much for that information :)
Those little short stories are little story treasures.
    Sometimes they're just for fun.
    Sometimes they clarify matters.
Either way, I don't always know that they exist.

Howdy. I read the Trilogy a couple of years ago and really liked it. People I gamed with in Dayton were really into Forgotten Realms, so that is how I was introduced. Haven't read beyond that because the public library has trouble keeping them on the shelves. (i.e. they walk off). Saw the 20th anniversary edition on the New Fiction shelves the other day and thought I would read them again.

The reason that I gave Free Fall 5 stars is that it hit all my buttons. I was very much in the mood for this genre and this type of writing at the time. For me to give a book5 stars, I must want to reread the book as soon as I finish it ... and I did. If you find the rest of the series hit and miss, though, you may not want to take my five stars too seriously. I like the first two books SO MUCH that I'm a bit biased about the rest of the series.

I was a little wary of the series at first cause I'm just not into "sports" anime. But Airgear is so well balanced between plot, action and comedy that I just rip through the volumns once I pick them up. I HIGHLY recommend this series.

My "friends" at the local Borders books keep me pretty well occupied so I don't really do a lot of research online. I also have two roommates who are into Manga so I read whatever they get their hands on too. Which reminds me... o_O I need to catch up on that pile of Airgear one of them left out for me.

Thank you so much. I've been on a great run with really wonderful books lately. Hate to break a good run. If you read any great books let me know. Have a great weekend.
