the essay is not yet published. it was written for an anthology of Basheer studies soon to be published.
Kovilan is definitely a wonderful writer, serious readers can never leave him behind. I appreciate you are eager to seek the precious. You can go out and discover the real books if you continue to sharpen your sensibilities. There are many writers whom we admire at a point of time in our life and discard them, in another time. Some books withstand this test of changing sensibilities and preferences. I believe some of Kovilan’s works will live for next generation.
V P Sivakumar - a wonderful writer. I think good readers can still appreciate him, and he was the one who translated many of Latin American stories into Malayalam, including the stories from Borges and Marques.
Critics can do a lot of influence over readers. I myself went after many great authors only after reading the best critics recommendations. It happens sometimes that we may follow the trail of words....and it may prove worth. It is always a challenge to find out good stuff and even more challenging is to write about them.
Dear Pramod, thank you for constantly in touch..
    Regards

    dear Pramod.

SINKIDI MUNKAN is a study on Basheer's story on the same title. as far as my experience is concerned Basheer is one of the best writers in Malayalam. There are many secret paths in his writing, open to all ---------his language has a taste of humanity and compassion. that's why I love him. But there is still others i consider greater than him- like Uroob, who was more historically conscious and had more strength and imagination.Basheer's early writings are really beautiful, namely, Prema lekhanam, Sabdhangal . I agree with the criticism that many of his later works were shallow and not having the literary quality or depth. But still Basheer ia a writer whom we could trust and read again

dear Pramod, happy to know that you have finished reading ALL THE Names. As you have rightly noted, its a wonderful book and Pessoa is one of Saramago's favourite writers. hope you will go on reading other books of Saramago too. I am on the way of my translation of Elie Wiesel's novel NIGHT. So no other serious reading now.

their argument is right to a certain extent. but still such stories have a relevance for the day. perhaps we may forget the story after some time. To withstand the tests of time is always a challenge before every writer.. Write to Civic Chandren, Padaphedham magazine, Elements, Customs road, Kozhikode.

    Happy reading!
