YES, I finally have time to read something other than textbooks, but now my TBR pile is out of control!! I'll read anything, but prefer something fast paced, unpredictable and with interesting characters you can actually care about. Sometimes I like non-fiction science too.

TJ, I think you would love "Kolymski Heights" by Lionel Davidson. It's an action/thriller set in Siberia with a great storyline and lead character. "The List of 7" by Mark Frost is also a great story! Enjoy and READ ON...

You asked if you should read "Jack the Bodiless". It's the 22nd (or 3rd) book in a series, which follows another series. If you haven't read these other books by Julian May, you should probably look at them first:
    The Saga of Pliocene Exile
    The Many-Colored Land
    The Golden Torc
    The Nonborn King
    The Adversary
    The Galactic Milieu Series
Intervention:. Released in the USA as two mass market paperbacks:
Surveillance and Metaconcert. Released in the UK as a single volume
    Jack the Bodiless
    Diamond Mask
    Magnificat

Yes, you should definently read Black. Black, which is followed by Red, and White, and now Green starts out slow, but as you get deeper in the series in gets much much more exciting. This series is now going on more than 15 books, but don't let that stop you, its one of the best series I've ever read. If you go to Ted Dekker website you can get the list of books there, and you'll find that there are series within the series, and in a way it doesn't matter which series you start with, but I strongly reccomend starting with Black Red and white, which is the original series. Happy reading.

Black by Tedd Dekker recommendation. This is a book written by a Christian fiction writer. I loved the series. It was really good. I would definitely recommend you read this book.

Re: "When You Are Engulfed in Flames"... I would say yes, definitely if you enjoy twisted-type memoirs, but would recommend you start with his first one, "Me Talk Pretty One Day" and if you love it, read his others - there are several more in between.

If you'd like to try another of his, I would suggest either Jurassic Park, a classic, or Prey, which has similar aspects to Next, but is different enough that you might still like it. If you do read any of them, let me know what you think.

Almost got it! I commented on how fantastic your taste in books is. I haven't been studying long myself, just two years because my course loads are often heavy. :( I've been only twice (Nagoya) as stopovers to Micronesia and Hawaii, but I plan to study abroad there for a summer semester next year. Kanji is difficult but keep on practicing! がんばって下さい。

    Hi there, welcome to Shelfari.
I highly recommend Memoirs, it's truly a fantastic book (and I recommend the movie when you're done, it's just as good).
As far as the other two books you asked about, I have to say that I don't remember the Giver too much. It was a required book for school years ago, and I only remember bits and pieces. However, I do know that I was not a fan.
As for Next, I am big Michael Crichton fan. I like his blend of science into fiction just enough that it doesn't become "science fiction", but still keeps the reader thinking "hmmm...this could really happen". I thought Next exemplified this very well and kept me entranced the whole time.
I hope these help, and don't let our differences in taste draw you away from Memoirs!

Hey I notice that you have Dexter on your TBR list. I love those books. I actually listened to them on audio and the reader was excellent. I have my hubby stuck on them now.. and we rented the series from Netflix and love it too.

Thanks for adding me. If I've listed it, you can consider it a favorite. However, I have found that I have reread the Harry Potter books the most. I think I've read Hallows 5 times.

Looking at your list reminds me I tried but couldn't finish 2012.
