Tina

I'm 34 and live in Vermont. I've loved books since I can remember being read to as a kid by my mom, she instilled in me the love of books. I started off mostly with the horror genre which I still love, but have branched out to many genres.
I have now discovered romance and love so many of it's different genres. I've found that romance... more »

I'm off today for Veterans day. Getting a bunch of stuff done around the house.

Judi lives about a mile from me. About 5 years ago I posted on RT about going to a library sale. She read it and knew I lived in PA, so she asked me where I lived. I told her the name of the town, and she said she lived there too. She ended up calling me and we've been friends ever since. We drove down to Pittsburgh when RT had their convention. We attended the bookfair and met a bunch of authors. We also met Paulette who lives in Pittsburgh. She's a nice lady.

Right now I'm reading Shelter Mountain by Robyn Carr. It's the second book in her Virgin River series. I like her writing style. She is more or less writing about a whole town and not just the couple who are featured in the book. It's almost like reading a soap opera.

I'm going Christmas shopping on Friday. We shop all day...like an marathon and don't get home till late. I can't wait!!!!

I went to a Halloween party at Judi's (She's on the RT board). She and her husband have a get together every year and invite a bunch of people. It was fun.

The J.D. Robb books are really good. They are set in NYC in 2058. I was kind of wary of reading a futuristic book, but the futuristic stuff is things I believe will be here in 2058. The heroine is a homicide detective. The suspect in her first case is the hero. They get married in the 4th book (or somwhere around there). Eve is the kind of character with an abusive past who drives herself to solve the murders. Roarke is just the ultimate hero. You'll know what I mean if you read the books. Naked in Death is the first in the series. I hope you give it a try.

I saw you mention you were making turkey & stuffing this weekend. I was ready to jump in my car and start driving to Vermont. That sounds really good. LOL

Hi Tina, How've you been? Did you do anything for Halloween? I've been busy getting some yard work done before winter. I really don't look forward to winter. I hate it being dark and cold all the time.

What have you been reading? I just finished a Tess Gerritsen suspense book called Body Double and absolutely loved it. Have you ever read her books? I haven't read one that I didn't love. Right now I'm reading To Wed a Wicked Earl by Olivia Parker. So far it's just OK. I liked her first book (At the Bride Hunt Ball) so I'm hoping this one picks up.

Hi Tina, Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Yes, last weekend was a long weekend for me. It was so nice to relax and read a couple of books. Have you read anything good lately? I just finished Nora Roberts' Jewels of the Sun. Everyone raved about this book, but I thought it was just OK. For me the first half of the books was really boring. Then it got pretty interesting. I'm going to start the second book in the trilogy tonight.

Yes it does seem like winter is going to be upon us before we know it. :{ I love a good mystery too! I haven't been up to too much lately. I quit my second job because I felt I had no time for myself and because my hubby got a new job and I wanted to be able to be home with him as much as possible. His hours now are more different than mine now compared to the previous job. He's happier now and that's all that matters! Funnily enough, after I quit the library, my reading slump was over. How weird is that?

I forgot to tell you that I found two of Handeland's books at a flea market over the weekend. I want to give that series a try sometime. I'm in the middle of so many series, I don' t know how I keep track of what's happening in each one. Sometimes it takes me a while to remember what was happening in the last book I read.

I tried the first book in Kim Harrison's series last year but couldn't get into it. I also tried a short story that she wrote in an anthology. I don' t know what it is about her writing. Something about it was confusing to me so I didn't read too much. If you read them let me know what you think. Maybe it was just a mood thing with me. I have a couple books from Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series. I hear it is really good.

I'm hoping I'll have time to read the next Night Huntress book this weekend. They're so hard to put down, I have to wait till I have a long weekend. LOL

Tina, How's your vacation going? Are you working your way through your TBR pile? I'm in the middle of Line of Scrimmage and I like it so far. I don't read many books where the couple are already married and on the verge of divorce. I love Karin Slaughter's books. Many people don't like them because they are VERY VERY dark. That doesn't bother me, but I don't like that she killed off a major character at the end of this book. If you want to give her a try, start with Blindsighted. It's a great book.

Wow, you're quick. I see you've already figured out what you're going to read for most of the challenges. I'm still working on mine...trying to use some books that I'm planning on reading for a Shelfari challenge.

Hi Tina, I posted a couple questions for the Challenge participants over on RT. I'm hoping to get some ideas for future challenges. Check it out.

Last winter I read Susan Wiggs Chicago Fire trilogy. The books were THE HOSTAGE, THE MISTRESS & THE FIREBRAND. It was a good series. I liked the 3rd book the best. Haven't read anything else by this author.

Yes, I've been reading a lot of books this month. I could use a week off of work every month. Maybe I'd made a dent in my TBR. I just seem to bring in more books than I take out.

I know what you mean about keeping your paranormal series straight in your head. I'm in the middle of maybe 5 or 6 different series. I have at least another 5 that I want to read, but don't want to start them until I'm done with some others. Of course, the authors just keep putting out more and more books in the series and I never get caught up. It's a vicious cycle. LOL

Hi, I have the challenges ready to go for Fall. I always worried that they are too hard and people will give up on them. Hope not.

What are you currently reading? I've read a lot of books this month...mainly because I had some time off from work. I read the first two books in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series and absolutely loved them. Can't wait to read the next one. Right now I'm working my way through a couple of Suzanne Brockmann's old Loveswept books. They're pretty good.

Thanks Tina. I need to do quite a bit of updating. I wish our AAR Shelfari group had active discussions but I will enjoy keeping up with the changes on your shelf. Maybe just the two of us can talk even if no one joins us!
