“This novel is sobering and grimly beautiful. I couldn't put it down, nor could I rid myself of the lump in my chest. From the start there is no hope -- the ultimate end of life on earth is a foregone conclusion. Yet, I found myself hoping for just one more day of life for the characters, just one more moment to view their grim reality of gray snow and cold, dead oceans that smell of salt and iodine, but not life. Truly remarkable.”
