As Shelfari's design guy, I'm half artist and half computer geek. I'm really into User Interface Design and CSS/HTML coding, so my real world book collection is about half art/design books and half programming books. While I read mostly non-fiction books, I'm hoping that this job will inspire me to tackle some of the classics that my beautiful... more »

Hi Timothy. I had started studying visual communications. We probably read the same or similar books.

Hello Timothy, I have been trying to combine authors there, I'm sorry if I did anything wrong. These are indeed different books, but the author is the same. "Syskonkarlek", "Ludvig mein Liebe" and "Ik en mijn broer" are different editions of the same book, Syskonkarlek, though.

Me again, another thing on the series, maybe it's all symbols that don't work exactly right - the book Breakfast in Bed by Sandra Brown is in a series called Bed & Breakfast. The & translates as Amp (ampersand, right) and no books show in the series.

You really know how to push a competitor's buttons (#4, I don't know if I can stand that! lol) I have found that the editing tools are pretty good. I would like to be able to delete books that have been added in error but I'm sure you can't let everybody that deep in the system. I do have a question, if you have time . . . I added a series Maggie O'Dell (Book 7 in the series is Black Friday, Alex Kava is the author) I think the apostrophe is causing a problem, when you try to look at all the books in the series it says Maggie ODell and doesn't show any of the series. Have you ever encountered this before?

Timothy, many thanks for your prompt response to my questions and your suggestion. Generally, the slowness occurs when one of my friends is responding to me. Usually, it takes until the next day before I get their response although there are exceptions, like your response to me was almost immediate. Also, it tends to be slow during the sign-in process for some reason. Keep up the good work...

Timothy hi. I'm wondering if there is some way to program your site so that it allows the members to send out a message to all of their friends lists at the same time? That way when I am going to be on vacation or away from my computer for a period of time I can notify my friends that I'm going to be away. Also, why is the site so slow sometimes? Anyway, just a few suggestions to improve the site. I am enjoying Shelfari very much and appreciate having it. READ ON......

Ok, thanks Tim. I can't remember what some of the other authors were although I do remember seeing at least a couple other cases of this, but if I come across another I will certainly let you know.

Sorry to bother you Timothy as I know you're doing your job, but I have to admit I'm finding it rather frustrating that in a number of cases where I have looked up and entered all the information / photo for a certain author (ex. Yu-lan Fung) you end up changing their name for the book in question (ex. to Fung Yu-Lan) yet do not carry over any of the information I have entered for them - all the info for the "new" author name is left blank so the work I did filling in their info turns out to be completely wasted. Is there no way you can change these author names while still carrying over their information / photos so everything does not have to be redone from scratch?

Thanks so much for writing back Timothy. And I'm sorry that the page that I "attempted" (ha ha) to edit is such a mess. Wish I could delete all that mess so it looked better.
Are you reading the "True Compass" right now? I pre-ordered mine about a month before it's release and received it on Sept. 15 from Barnes and Noble. I ran to that UPS truck because I knew what it was! (lol) Right now I"m on Chapter 2, No Crying In This House. Usually I read pretty fast, but I'm taking my time and absorbing every detail of this book. Plus taking notes and quotes that really stand out and effect me.

    Thanks for the help :)

    Hi Timothy~
Thank you for fixing my typing error on the "True Compass", I really appreciate it. I have a question though. Is there a way that I myself can re-write it, so I can fix my mistakes in typing? I really wish I could because it's driving me crazy that I did that! ( ha ha )
Thank you again so much for what you did :)
