Hi. Just getting the hang of this site. I see pass messages. Please excuse my rudeness in not replying sooner. Glad you caught The Office. The most fun I have ever had in the business. Wonderful people who were completely secure in themselves and open to new people on the set. A joy,

Btw, we have really got into the Will Thomas novels and have read them all except the latest. Thanks for the recommendation. We will check out Dust and Shadow.

I wish the site had a check off to say you got the book from a library. I know the site sponsors have the admirable goal of encouraging book sales but I think supporting local libraries does the same thing.

Thanks for the recommendation. Right to the Pasadena Library site I will go. Us doll artist/actor types are very library centric.

I like that you've recently read TIJUANA STRAITS! A mystery set amidst the California surf culture attracts a uniquely cool and sophisticated mind.

Hey! What did you think of the latest Crais? I read it while in SB... I'm giving up on the silly Stephanie Plum books, though. They've gone from funny and clever fluff to painfully brainless fluff. Ugh. Ah, well. Just finished The Jewish Policemen's Union...beautiful, beautiful. Chabon's a freaking genius. NOW what are you reading??

Yes, I am working on a sequel to Pemberley Remembered. Today, I got a call from Source Books, a publisher who specializes in Jane Austen sequels, and they want to publish my book. Hurrah! I'm reading Barbara Cleverly's Kashmiri Rose, and it is very good. I usually don't read books set in hot, buggy places because I am insect-phobic. But glad you recommend it to me. Do you have a publisher?

Just finished reading "In a Dry Season." The mystery part of the story was very interesting, especiallly all of the details re WWII. But I thought he spent too much time on the difficulties he had with his wife and son. There was one statement in there that really jarred me. Americans "have executions as often as they have muggings." Not the best opinion of justice in America. Thanks for the recommendation. How's your novel going? Mary Simonsen

cheez, you read a lot. I just finished Summerland (Chabon) and I loved it...it was completely unexpected. I did NOT like Chabon's book of short stories, however. Amazing to me that the same man can have written both. He must have had some seriously bitter experiences with women to have written the short stories. Am reading the Charlie Bone books right now 'cause Keenan is...they're like Harry Potter "lite", but good for an 8 year old and not as vividly frightening as the Potter books. Got my dad American Shaolin and he loved it; Max is reading it now. What are you reading? Actually, what are you NOT reading?! You seem to be reading a book a day!

Hey! It's already worth the price of admission. He starts off with this in the prefatory note: "Second, while most American dictionaries spell 'kung fu' as two words, I reduced it to one, 'kungfu,' because I didn't want thousands of orphaned 'fu's populating the pages of my book with no 'ck's to keep them company." How can you not love it? I'm already half-way through and find it completely engaging, super-quick to read, and though this man is NOTHING like me, he's got me seeing through his eyes. Really well done. I did NOT, however, like the Irish noir books I'd been so looking forward to reading: The Silver Swan and Christine Falls. Ugh.
