I have been working in Behavioral Health for much of my career.

Books have been essential food for me.

Mostly a fiction reader. Discovering a new novelist gives me a charge.

Thanks again for accepting my friend request. I have been busy with work, family, and school (which is about to begin again).
Between our ever increasing hospital census and what feels like never-ending online CE, I rarely have a moment to breathe. I somehow find time to squeeze in reading…

Just stopping by to say hello.

I've always wanted to read Cormac McCarthy, but for some reason or other never got around to it. After seeing the film No Country for Old Men, I'll have to rectify that situation.

What a great film! The acting, photography and direction were superb. It was so quiet and slow-moving, yet very bleak and unsettling. Anton Chigurh is one of the creepiest characters I've seen lately.

Thanks for your comment about Liquor. It looks like a fun series and a complete change of pace from her earlier horror stories. Happy reading!

    Turning 60

I did it, and now it’s done
    and now every day something
    starts to crystalize: ideas,
    insights, my knees—and I know
so much that I should be able
to put into words, my medium,
but it passes cloudlike past words
and settles into a slip of funny attitudes

    and astonishments. You are not
so different and yet are. You
    desire things slowly, emerging
    beautifully like old shirts
from a suitcase. You desire a glimpse,
    a hidden message, a smile,
the gaze of a mourning dove,
an egret, a panther, to sneak up
    on you and deliver modestly
a secret from the young world.
