Tim, I received your comments about "Blood Song" and I couldn't agree with you more, it's fantastic! I read it last July. Following are my comments about it:
"Blood Song (Raven's Shadow Trilogy: Book I)" by Anthony Ryan is a wonderful, amazing, and magnificent fantasy/adventure story that will captivate and entertain you. The first words that come to mind when thinking about this epic novel are; wondrous, brilliantly written, enchanting, intense, magical, melifluous pacing, exquisitely atmospheric settings, elegant verbiage, richly developed characters, comradery, epic storyline, dystopian fantasy, a must read, and soon to be classic in this genre...5+stars
Tim, I'm anxious to hear what your comments about "Red Country." Happy New Year too!
Tim hi, I'm so glad you are enjoying the Mageborn series as much as I did. I happened onto another jewel by first time author Anthony Ryan titled "Blood Song (Ravens Shadow Trilogy: Book I)." Also, if you enjoy pulp fiction space operas I think you will love "The Human Chronicles Trilogy" by T.R. Harris and the "Odyssey One Trilogy" by Evan Currie. Enjoy and READ ON...
Hey, how can you rate a book when you aren't finished yet? eeeeeh???
Tim, you are going to love "Best Served Cold!" It's classic Abercrombie, gritty, intense, dark, and enthralling!!! I can't wait for the Kindle price to drop for his latest book "The Heroes." I was saddened to hear your comments about "A Wise Man's Fear" as I was looking forward to reading it because like you I loved the first book. Oh well, it isn't like I don't have plenty of books to read on my TBR list, so many books to read, so little time :)!
Tim, I wholeheartedly agree with your comments about "Graceling" as I found it to be tedious also. I had trouble finishing it and in retrospect wish I hadn't wasted my time reading it!
Tim, "Tales of the Dying Earth" by Jack Vance is perhaps the quintessential collection of sci/fi fantasy/adventure stories ever written by one of the most revered and awarded authors to write in this genre. The words that come to mind when trying to describe his incredible achievement are: Wondrous, magnificent, epic, spellbinding, dazzling, exquisite, inventive, wordsmithery, magical, elegant, enthralling, engrossing, imaginative, original, mellifluous pacing, atmospheric backdrops, transformational, fantastical storylines! I read the first story in this collection when i was 11 years old and the others in the ensuing years. Over the years I have read the collection over 20 times, each time reflecting on its life changing impact on my love for reading. Just imagine being able to transform written words from your minds eye into life-like visions and you will then understand the sensual impact of Jack Vance's brilliance! Ironically, because of its unique qualities I have always been protective and therefore reluctant to expose this truly fabulous literary experience to others for fear of diminishing its value to me...a misguided supposition I know, but true never-the-less. So, if you want to share my journey into the unknown and wander through the beautiful worlds as penned by a master scribe then you will read this incredible collection of stories and revel in their beatific perfection. Storytelling at its best; a masterpiece...
Tim, I absolutely loved "Ender's Game" and think you will too. It's imaginative and original as well as being brilliantly scribed by Orson Scott Card. I also really enjoyed "The Left Hand of God" by Paul Hoffman. READ ON...

That's cool. Personally I loved the third book and thought it the best of the trilogy. Had the right mix of lore, action, magic and mystery for me! Have you read any others by Feist?
I see you read The Way of Shadows. I am planning on reading this and I notice it is a favourite of yours. I love fantasy and sci fi books so I'm looking forward to reading it. Are the other books in the Trilogy as good?
Tim, check out "Pirate Latitudes" by Michael Crichton, and for some laugh-out-loud but somewhat raunchy coming-of-age humor "Carter Finally Gets It" by Brent Crawford, and "Youth in Revolt" by C.D. Payne. Enjoy and READ ON...
