    Tiff -
Did you like Borges and the Eternal Orangutans? I've been thinking about reading it, just because I am curious after seeing you carry it around.

Loved it. Wish that we could have discussed it more. Maybe next time we should create a group on here so we can discuss it as we go.

Hey Tiffany! I'm sorry for the long delay in reply. I set up this account but haven't had much time to do anything with it. I'm sorry I missed your note about book group because I would have enjoyed discussing 1000 White Women. I really enjoyed that book. I also enjoyed learning about English royalty through Gregory's novels. I will check out the book you recommended - thanks! I hope things are going well with you.

    Hi Tiffany,

I LOVED Kafka on the shore! It's a novel and a fantasybook in one and it's really, really good. Once you've read something by Murakami, you will be addicted. Don't say I didn't warn you :o) When you like Kafka, you could also read in beautiful Norwegian Wood. Hope you will like them. Let me know!

    Have a nice day!

why are you telling me about a book you haven't read?

It was lame. And made me feel like a teenage girl for reading it.

Hmm, same ('problem') here: I keep buying books I don't have time to read. I loved Born on a Blue Day since it's a lucid and honest account of living with Asperger. As long as you don't expect to empathise with Tammet, because, frankly, you cannot. What fascinated me most was his description of synesthesia. I first read Captain Corelli's Mandolin by De Bernieres, but you might get right down with The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts, which is dazzling as well.
    Enjoy the weekend, Josee-]

    Hi Tiffany,
Actually, I did read Marquez, but that must be fifteen years ago or more. I bought it again to reread, bur unfortunately it's in storage at the moment. I did read quite a bit by Allende as well. Did you read the Latin American books by Louis de Bernieres? They are wonderful too! Apparently, you plan to read Born on a Blue Day. I can heartily recommend it.
I really like your shelf, by the way.
    Take care, Josee

each book of the series is equally amazing, but i would recomommend reading them in order. I read the third one first because a friend of mine owned it and just had to go back and start from the first one to see how this "extraordinary correspondence" began!

I have no idea about Popol Vuh. I've had it for years, and I KNOW I read it, but I could probably only barely start talking about what it's about...

She told me that you would get really excited if I put that love in the name of book on there. But I have no idea what it's about and really only put it on there to screw with you. :-P

I REALLY liked The Time Traveler's Wife! It was much better than I was even anticipating. I didn't think there was too much that wasn't necessary and felt they explained MOST of the places he traveled to (although not all). The Ingrid storyline was kind of odd...I'm still not sure what we were supposed to get from that. I guess she helped to illustrate what his life was like before Clare but other than that, I'm not sure. I absolutely loved the fact that when Clare was young Henry knew their future and wouldn't tell but when Clare was older she knew their past (kind of, in reality it was Henry's future) and wouldn't tell.

I also found the Gomez addition a bit odd. I understand about Clare sleeping with him before she finally "met" Henry but I was not a fan of her sleeping with him again. I guess I really wanted to like Gomez after he had been a good friend to Henry and then he totallly takes advantage of Clare being lonely.

The end felt a little rushed to me and I was confused at a couple of the parts. I think the author was trying to write it how the characters would feel; overwhelmed and not always 100% there but there was about a 60 page spread or so where I felt a little lost in the story.

But, I competely agree that it was a great story about true love between two people destined to be together. I like that you are torn between "loving it and liking it"! I think I felt that way for a while but just loved so much of the book that "love it" won for me! lol
