Officially, my husband and I joined shelfari together. However, it appears I am the one constantly on the site, he cruises in once a week to add somebooks. We live outside of Pittsburgh, but this is our 5th city in 8 years. Hubby is a Chef and I work part-time in Human Resources. We have two wonderful sons. Our youngest has autism and must be... more »

What an amazing work! I found this book both easy and hard to digest. At times, I postponed reading, to take time to digest, but also to make it last. I was lulled by Caelum's story and will miss hearing his voice every day. I was moved and will carry the stories in this book for a long time.

Wally Lamb does such an excellent job of creating his characters and accurately describing the landscape of America in which they reside.

This is a book about Columbine, Women's Prison, post-Katrina New Orleans, the legal system, pharmecuticals, psychology and politics. From the view of a normal family and a typical American, it feels like a synoposis of our social state for the past decade.

    Outstanding!

Classic conversational Roth with a nice little perspective twist. Great last line. Just an exquisite little read.

Delightfully engaging. Read it in a day. Nico mourns her sisters drowning and becomes strangley enganged with her sisters boyfriend.

Wonderful. But a little like a rich desert, I couldn't digest it in big quantities. I agree with some early post that a move is pointless - and really just indiciative that people seem to miss the point of the book.

I think the lack of punctuation gave a sense of confusion to replicate the blindness - like to think "who is speaking now?'

I found this book poetic, precise and worthy of the time to read it.

I am not a Picoult fan (some of her books I can't even make it through) but I enjoyed this one. I found the characters likable and relatable. I strongly oppose the death penalty and found she put on a pretty good argument against it.

I was very disappointed in this book. Divided into four sections each reflecting a different point of view, it seemed to get progressively anti-climatic. Truly, by the time I got to Abigail's reflections, I didn't really care what she thought or what had motivated her due to the selfishness and destructiveness she revealed in the others stories.

I would have like to given this 2.5 stars, but rounded up instead of down because I really did enjoy the first section from Sean's perspective and held on for the "note" till the end.

I have to admit I am a big James Frey fan and loved million little pieces, so I guess it's no surprise that I adore this book. I love thinking of LA as the main character and getting all this perspective about what really makes a city alive.

The characters are interesting and even the small vignettes you just drop in on for a few pages are compelling.

    Bravo!

I really loved this book and if possible it made me love my dog even more. It is quite a tearjerker and the family story is a little cliche', but I fell in love with Enzo from the first chapter and really couldn't put it down.

I am not really a race fan, so all the details of racing were a little much, but I did love the parellels he drew between racing and life.

    Perfect ending!

This book made me sad at the end. But it was a pleasant read until the last few chapters.

I didn't really love Lovely Bones, but was very moved by Almost Moon. Living with someone with a mental illness changes who you are and what you value. Although Helen is not very likable, I could understand her detachement, resolve and exhaustion. Very graphic at times, but real. The first paragraph really draws you in. Not a light read, but well-crafted.
