Nice to make your acquaintance on Shelfari. I am an author/philosopher from Nebraska. Please check out my new motivational book "Moments of Forever: Discovering the True Power and Importance of Your Life" (a registered Shelfari title). It is a practical study in metaphysics that will help you find greater meaning in your life. I would be honored if you would consider adding it to your list of books to read.
    Thank you!

So you got through College without ever attending classes!

I'm not a very bookish teacher. I love it when students ask questions and whenever we have a discussion. but of course, I try to make them read and share my enthusiasm for books.

So that quote. I love it, without really knowing how to interpret it...

It's the conflict between one's true nature (what you actually do) and your self-image, which sets standards and limits on what you should do? How do you see it?
So which should one follow? What one does naturally? or what one's pride tells one to do?

How about sharing those quotes with me? I can learn more about the workings of his mind that way. And yours too, because you obviously select those that mean something to you.

    Ok, next quote?

When you say you didn't attend class, do you mean you never went to College, or you skipped class? Careful of your reply, this is a reacher reading it!!

    Ha ha, no didn't offend.
Sad thing is some students do write that sort of nonsense. These few weeks, I've been acting more like a policewoman than a teacher and that annoys me. Students seem so agitated, restless and disrespectful at the moment.

Gosh, Nietzsche is cynical isn't he? I don't know much about his theories, so I can't understand what exactly he meant by that. Can you explain?

Kushal, I really enjoyed "Winning" although it's more about Jack Welch's insightful style and personality than strategic policy execution. Because you have an interest in management I want to recommend "The Practice of Management by Peter Drucker and "In Search of Excellence." Both are full of anecdotes that can be easily applied in real life situations...

Kushal, thanks for the recommendations. At present I have so many books on my wish list I'm not sure I'll live long enough to read them all. Since I purchased my Kindle 2 I've added even more so my wish list/plan-to-read list continues to grow. So many books, so little time. READ ON...

Ha ha, learning from other's mistakes, yeah right!!

Paris is treating me anonymously, blandly, but not cruelly, so it's ok.

Wish I could discuss books with my students instead of economics, but it's sometimes stimulating.

How do you entertain yourself over the weekend? Anything interesting happening in Bombay?

The trip to India revolved around the wedding of Indian friends working in Romania-- they were from Kerala, Changana Cherry more precisely, a lovely little village. In the meantime, these friends left to Germany, but we still keep in touch now and then. We had Mombay in mind too initially, but there were too many places to go and hard to make a plan to include everything we wanted to see, so unfortunately we did not make it.
Thank you for your compliments on my name - it is a Jewish word meaning Moon and White (so I understand, I do not know, I do not know the language - I am not even Jewish). I understand it is pretty common in Israel, though.
    best,

I am from Romania. I have been to India on a holiday a few years ago - half of it around New Delhi, Agra etc. (the Golden Triangle) and half in the South in Kerala. I liked it a lot. To me it was a true adventure. Where from India are you? - the post says MH -- ?
