    hi Kushal,
How are you? Sorry for the long silence.
Thank you for the website details.
How are things at your end? Workwise?
During my silence, I finished my thesis and had a baby. A 5 month old girl, Lise Maithri. As you can imagine, she takes up all my time, but I manage to read a little.

Hey, Kushal, thanks for heads-up on Fine Balance, I'll add to my list. I'm plowing thru an old tome in my spare time (about 15 min. each nite) , Orpheus, A History of World Religions. Old, (1908) but chock full of data you don't hear anymore. I'll keep you posted.
    My best,

    Hey, Kushal,
Good talking with you Saturday. Writing work has had to stop while attention turns to getting website construction for KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD & EVIL. Trying to launch before end of month, much work left to be done, stuff I've got to write for the designers--I'll send you the web address when it goes live. Let me know how FINE BALANCE turns out, please. My best wishes to you,
    Glenn

GREAT!! I grew up in South Africa, but came to Australia in 1970. Went to India and Sri Lanka in 1986. Bit scary as the war was on and we were restricted in where we could go, but LOVED our few weeks there. Health (and finance wise) can't travel any more, but would love to go back.
Glad to be your shelfari friend. As I may have said, I have read Anil's Ghost twice. LOVED it.. I live in Greenvale, queensland. see googleearth.

    hey,

well, I've been to both delhi and mumbai. I like both in different ways. Well, okay. maybe not mumbai so much, or maybe i do. i'm not sure.

while delhi has big roads, and people with big hearts, they also have people with large size curiosities. i find that they ask too many personal questions, which irks me. everyone is in everyone's business. not because they care and want to help, but because they want gossip. and yes, this is a generalization.

i didn't experience what you spoke about the mumbai trains. infact i heard the women's compartment was very aggressive, like women won't move or there'd be fights on the train, etc.. but i have met a couple nice helpful people on the train as well, and then those that couldn't care less. i guess that's what they call diversity. :)

anyhoo, i just finished grad school so should be working soon. what about you?

    Hi.

I have heard that before as well about self help books and it actually made sense. There are just too many out there, so you've got to be highly selective when it comes to self help. A lot of times people write them without the proper qualifications. I.e. giving advice on depression when they're not a psychiatrist, etc.

I know being unemployed isn't the fun-nest situation in life, but you shouldn't let it bring you down. Think positive. :) i know harder said than done, but still.

Anywhoo, I've read a book by Chetan Bhagat, 5 point someone, it was maha-boring. well, it had funny moments in it, and i think that's the main reason I kept going with it, but the writing wasn't awesome. I'd rather have watched a movie but back then there wasn't one. 3 idiots came years afterwards!

I tried reading Unaccustomed earth, didn't like it.

I couldn't find amish tripathi's recent book. Whats it called? and do you mean amit trivedi?

what do you like/dislike about bombay?

and why do you want to live in delhi?

    yes i'm indian.
