My heart's desire since childhood was to become a librarian and I succeeded after brief diversions into geology and physical anthropology, as well as a few years where I thought being an oceanographer would have been cool. Since getting my face wet and bobbing around like a cork on the high seas wasn't appealing in reality - I found my niche and have settled into the world of books. Diverse topics interest me but as you'll quickly learn from scanning my bookshelf, my tendency is to wander through far away places and other peoples lives. Besides being a book nut, I'm also a dog nut and have been since I popped out of the womb with what must have been four-legged siblings. My avatar is a photo of my latest canine family member and I use it because she's much cuter than I am. Enjoy my shelves!
"It is of great importance that the general public be given the opportunity to experience, consciously and intelligently, the efforts and results of scientific research. It is not sufficient that each result be taken up, elaborated, and applied by a few specialists in the field. Restricting the body of knowledge to a small group deadens the philosophical spirit of a people and leads to spiritual poverty." _____Albert Einstein_____
