I love to read fantasy, sci-fi, and some horror and comic books (Mainly DC Universe). I listen to mainly rock, metal, metalcore, and hardcore music, but I also listen to all forms of techno, some classical and am... more »

This book was my second venture into Neil Gaiman's work, with his book "Neverwhere" being the first. I had no prior knowledge to reading this book, which is apparently a follow up to his "American Gods". Anansi Boys doesn't make any need-to-know references to American Gods to follow what is going on in the book.

The book starts very slow and was made even slower to me because I did not care for the characters in the book very much. It makes sense toward the end why they are the way they are, but I still didn't like them. It's not that what was going on wasn't interesting either, the subject matter was quite refreshing, but you can't really find anything that interesting if you don't care whether the character lives or dies. The way the book handled a certain aspect of the story treaded a little too harshly on my chivalrous side which pushed me away from it as well.

I really liked this book. It helped me understand the turmoil I was having in my life at the time I read it, when I was still dealing with my father. Good read.

I was given this book from my best friend when I was a sophomore in high school. I was pretty much slowing down to the point of stopping my reading when I picked this up. This book sealed my fate at that time to stop reading. Not because it was good, no. Because I didn't want to read anything else. I only wanted to read this book. I absolutely LOVED this book!

Sci-fi space battles, competition, aliens, conspiracies, kids living like adults, teen angst, political war...this book is plain crazy! If you were ever picked on in school, you can identify with Ender, the main character. I recommend this to any sci-fi fan!

This series of books used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid! Depending on the right setting where you're reading it, some of the ideas presented in these stories can still be a tad bit frightening. Especially with the creepy illustrations throughout the book.

I absolutely love the vague imagery that Lovecraft uses! He allows your own imagination to conjure up all that is fearful. He really knows how to invoke the fear in you!

The story is very interesting, intriguing and fun to read. The only thing I had a hard time with was characters. This is my first Forgotten Realms book and I had a hard time figuring out who was who and their relationships with each other. It seems you have to have read some previous books to understand some of these characters, their traits, and their motivations.

Keep with it though, because it's a very good read.

I really had some high hopes for this entry in the "Watch" series, but I turned out to be disappointed. I did not enjoy having to read through the somewhat (but not quite) graphic depictions of fortification in the first half of the book.

Plus, compared to the first entry in the series Night Watch, there really wasn't much going on. It was mostly theory of what's happening with who and talking between people than any type of real suspense or action. The type of suspense it was trying to create I just didn't feel it. I just didn't really care about any of the main characters, except for the main character in the second section of the book which was amazing.

It just didn't seem to hold my attention. I had to force myself to read through it most of the time. I hope the third entry fairs better.

I love the story line but the writing can sometimes be hard to follow, which may be due to the fact that it's translated from Russian as another reviewer as stated. Good amount of action, intrigue and suspense. A good read.
