hi teckie!oh my.. san ka sa antipolo?and yep.. im a romance sucker.. LOL,, i only read for pleasure, i cant enjoy reading a book without an air of romance .. ^^
Of course you can do edits!! Do as many as you find the time, energy, and interest to do.I'm simply saying that I've used that convention on several series records and I'm asking that you not change those without talking to me first. (Other people are starting to use the convention as well.) That convention serves a useful purpose and several of us like it. That's all I'm saying,DL
Whew! That's a relief. You get email notifications if a series record is altered? I don't understand how that happens. Oh - wait. It is because of the book detail pages updates. You must have left checked the various sections of SEP's books that say to notify you when something is changed. You know, I NEVER get those notices. They are supposed to be exempt from the email notification settings you establish on your home page but I'm not getting them at all and I've worked on hundreds of books where I've left that option checked. I've reported this to Shelfari but have gotten no response.SEP is one of my favorites as well and Stars is the best series! It is odd, though, that I misspelled her name because I cut-n-paste from the author section of the book-detail page to create that convention. The reason I do that is because the first time I used the convention I DID misspell the author's name and had to redo something like 25 books to correct it. This was before series records were editable and every book had to be separately edited to change a series record. Glad those days are behind us! Thank you for catching that error. None of the people who do significant editing take this job lightly. It is an enormous time investment for everyone involved. That banner doesn't do a thing for us. Keep in mind, we've been at this for a long time. The banners just showed up last week. We are all subject to error, though. Please be patient when you find one of us guilty of such human frailty.I am going to ask you not to reset any other series record names that use the convention unless you talk to me first. This wasn't a whim on my part. I have series records showing up on my list that are distinguished (in name) only by one letter - different series, different authors, almost exactly the same series names. In addition, there are series record names that have virtually no information content, "fbi", for example. As Paul said, there are no real rules about this. Enclosing the author name in parends keeps it from being part of the "official" series record. I've had several people say they appreciate that convention. There are almost 200 series records that currently appear on the "Your Series" list from my home page. I use them a lot! I've bought about $500 worth this month alone because of those lists and my librarian work. Both of these expose me to new titles and subjects. I have very little restraint where books are concerned! LOL!Are you also a Lori Foster fan perhaps? I added 2 books to the SBC series record for her that really concern me. In fact, I think I'll go remove them right now. Haven't felt right about it since I added those books. I wish Shelfari had the concept of "series record owner" so that we would have someone to ask about specific changes to a series record. Thanks again. Glad to find another SEP fan.DL
Have I offended you in some way? If so, I'm really sorry. Maybe I am misreading the tone of your posts?Like with so many things on Shelfari, series records are open to various preferences. I respect yours and see you have reset the Chicago Stars series name. I am OK with that - it isn't that important to me.Thanks again for posting to me about the situation. Hope you're feeling better about things.DL
Sheesh! I must be totally BLIND. I examined that record after reading your note and STILL didn't see the misspelling. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. We are continuing to work on conventions for series records. Thanks for telling me your opinions!DL
Hi, There are no "rules" about this. My own series list was showing so many very similar series record names that I started the convention to make that list more usable. Which name did I mess up on?DL
Hmmm that's a good technique. Sige I will try to apply.
I wish I can read as much as you Teckie!
hi there! i just noticed you have read a lot of the same books as i have but i haven't read any julie garwood...if i was to try one of her books which one would you suggest?
