Hello readers! I'm an AP and "regular" English teacher in a small town in Iowa and an avid reader. I'm a sucker for a series and will read any series, no matter how bad it is. I think I'm basically nosey and just need to know what happens to the characters in later books, even if they are badly written characters...hanging head in shame. My... more »

Hi teacherrice. What a great shelf. I think you might like Susan G. Wooldridge's "Poemcrazy" when you're in the mood for some inspiring nonfiction. Cheers.

Hello teacherrice. Were you able to view my philosophy on teaching? I hope so. Let me know if you did. If not, I'll try to send it again.

Hi there! Thanks for the add. I fell in love with Jamie and Claire back in 2001, and can't get enough. I turned my friends on to them too. And I too am not above reading "trash". Sometimes you need a little brain junk...lol

I was thinking you were Jodi Rice, but I have enjoyed seeing your comments on here, too. I teach AP Lang. This will be my 2nd year with it and my 13th year of teaching altogether. I am doing Gatsby, Huck Finn, Grapes of Wrath and The Crucible for independent outside reading this year. If you have any good AP level tests or reading guides on those, I'd love to see them. I just read Grapes this summer, and I immediately put it on my top ten list. I can't believe it took me so long to get to that one, but I must say, I am sure I appreciated it much more as an adult than I would have as a teenager. But I'm going to attempt it. It was so moving and can translate easily into today's debate on immigration, I think. Anyway, I only have a week before school starts! Aaugh! I'm thinking of ordering some Applied Practice unit studies on those books. Have you tried any of those?

Hi, I do LOVE Harry Potter!
I teach AP Lit, British Lit, 9th grade and Drama/theatre arts at a small school on the coast of NC.

We'll have to stay in touch!! Off to reread Deathly Hallows. I started over again this morning! (like I have nothing else to do! : ) )

Cooking is so relaxing. It keeps me sane..lol. I'd love to swap favs. I just tried a new rack of lamp recipie and it was delish.

Rack of Lamb with Goat Cheese Crust

    Rack of lamb
    Dijon mustard
    Herbed goat cheese
    Salt
    Pepper

    Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Cut away any excess fat on the lamb. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Quickly sear on all sides in a very hot pan. Roast for 20 minutes. Remove lamb and brush with Dijon mustard. Return the lamb to the oven and cook for another 20 minutes. Spread the goat cheese all over the meat of the lamb avoiding the bones. Cook for another 20 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes, then cut, serve and enjoy!

I looked at your summer reading assignments on Google today. Good stuff! Do you have a website? I'm using a Google Group for my summer reading this summer. I'm having them answer prompts online. This is my first time using interactive online journals. So I've appreciated your info the past few days on the list.
