First off, I'm a guy; I know there's a cute dog set as my profile picture, and while it's my dog, I'm not a girl. Sorry to disappoint you, fellas.

I primarily read science fiction and fantasy, and have read a whole lot of graphic novels. My tastes do range outward from there, from current pop pulp and the occasional bestseller to... more »

One of the best and most original graphic novel concepts I've encountered in a long time. Excellently paced and written, with a frighteningly realistic edge.

Two great Gotham Central tales -- "Soft Targets", involving a series of sniper shootings of city officials, and "Unresolved", involving a school bombing that has become a cold case. An excellent read in the ever-excellent Gotham Central run.

One of the finest comic stories I've ever read. The plot and dialogue read like something out of the best TV detective dramas (the police portions of The Wire, Homicide: Life on the Streets, The Shield, or Justified), with the addition of a world where superheroes and supercriminals exist and cast long shadows.

A fantastic, original science fiction tale of survival and evolution in a freefall environment. Niven tells a compelling tale of endurance and the bonds of a tribe, all set against one of the most fascinating backdrops in sci-fi.

An interesting look at the perils of trusting to the magnanimity of the future and the displacement of time travel to an extreme degree.

Better than expected, and expectations were high. The Draco Tavern stories are fantastic vignettes held together by a brilliantly simple continuity where the narrator takes a back seat to quick settings and ideas. My only real complaint is the order of the stories, as it should have been done chronologically by publication date; as it stands, a number of stories spoil plot points for the short story that immediately follows them because they're arranged out of order.
