ah, gracias, mika. that cdr final was grueling, and i was a mess (note, not messi!) all through the 120 minutes, like i was during the world cup final, and felt exactly the same way at the end: utterly triumphant but completely drained.

i had a friend buy me my copy of "white storm" in england in 2003. this was after becks joined. the book's limited availability might be because it was never printed in the u.s., but it just might be available in hongkong. i'll bring my copy with me when i'm next in the philippines, as i might be able to attend an ffp event then. in the meantime, i'll keep an eye out for a copy here.

hasta el final, vamos real! (it worked for us in the cdr, perhaps it will do the same for the champions league.)

i think ffp is going to do a test online discussion (lemme check what theme we're tackling) this november, so let's see how that goes and take it from there. as for getting more folks into poetry, we'll just have to rely on saint neruda's intercession through his poems, and that gives us a chance. love poems are quite accessible as well, so that's another plus. (i personally find his political poems more moving, but that must be a minority opinion.)

if i have earth shattering ideas (not likely) i might give you a holler, but i promise i won't bug you till past december after your big project. good luck on that, by the way. may the good fortune of saint iker shine on you.

wow, this is one religious post, amen. :-)

si, soy pipita: scored the first goal in our 6-1 romp over racing sabado pasado and assisted cristiano on the second goal. life is muy buena indeed.

you a madridista -- my esteem for you has risen exponentially! not very many of us there, but my only basis for this is last may i was wearing my madrid shirts all over metro manila (and dumaguete and bohol) and got little reaction. by contrast, i wore a madrid shirt in mexico city on the day we clinched the league in 2007 and nearly got lynched. but mexico is (was) cule country because of rafa marquez.

i should've started my first note with "Ihop told me" because ihop did tell me to get in touch with you about the new online discussions that are being initiated by ffp as a companion/complement to the offline ones. it's been proposed that the current mods for the offline meetings also take the lead in the online discussions. dunno how you feel about the added responsibility, but that's why i'm volunteering to co-mod. consider me your humble servant; i'm ready for my marching orders.

    hala madrid!

hi mika, i'm volunteering to help you moderate the online discussion for poetry/neruda/february. i'm new to ffp so i'm not sure what that entails exactly, and since the online discussion is itself a new activity, we might have to figure things out on the wing. but i'm here at your disposal. talk to you soon.
