This set is reprints one the most important characters created in the Golden Age of Comics. This set reprints Captain America #1-#10 written and drawn by two of the comic industries greatest legends, Joe Simon and Jack "The King" Kirby. Though only working the first 10 issues their run is considered one of the most important ones in the history of the comic book industry. These two created the quintessential American Hero that many have tried to copy since then but failed(Even Simon and Kirby would create another version of Cap for a smaller publisher). Today Captain America is considered one of the true classic that came from the Golden Age along with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman. Though It wouldn't until Avengers #4(1964) that Kirby would get to draw Captain America again it was rebirth of a legend that is still being published today.

This 2 volume hard cover set that reprints these issues are beautifully bound in a slipcase cover that matches the books that it holds. Though this edition has been long out of print you may get these in a 2 volume paperback edition. These issues are a must read for any fan of Marvel Comics or comics in general, especially concerning the Golden Age of comics.

  • Batman: The Long Halloween
    • Rated 5 stars

This is one of my favorite Batman stories. Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale have crafted a superb superhero story with a very engaging mystery. Starting on Halloween and on every holiday for a year some one is killing mobsters. Has Batman crossed the line? Or is there some new mystery vigilante? This story takes place during Batman's first year of the Dark Knight crusade on the criminal elements of Gotham. Continuity wise this almost could be a sequel to Frank Miller's Batman: Year One.
This story plenty of twist and turns and the ending will leave you a sense of "what the..?. I know I never saw it coming and I have been reading comics for something like 30 years. So if you like a great engage mystery that makes you think and love superheroes this is the book to read. Also check out the sequel, Dark Victory and Catwoman: When in Rome. These two are directly tied into Long Halloween and also were done by Loeb and Sale.

  • The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes
    • Rated 5 stars

If your a fan of Sherlock Holmes this CD set is for you. This 64 CD set(Yes that is correct 64 CDs, total playing time 48 hours 10 minutes) is the Complete Conan Doyle short stories and novels of one the world best know fictional detectives(or consulting detective if you want). These Radio plays were performed for the BBC Radio and are performed by a full cast. This radio plays are the most faithful adaptation of Doyle's stories you will find anywhere. And the best part is that they are done in the order in which they were published. Sherlock Holmes is brilliantly played by Clive Morrison with his ever faithful friend Dr. Watson played by Michael Watson. Don't let the price tag of $250 scare you away. It comes out to $3.90 per CD. But I'm sure if you do some searching online you can find it for a bit cheaper. This is just the thing for that fan of Sherlock Holmes who has read and re-read the stories over and over. This is a fresh new way to enjoy these timeless classics.

  • Calvin and Hobbes
    • Rated 5 stars

This is the one book I can pick up and just start reading anywhere. I can't help but laugh out loud at the antics of Calvin and Hobbes.

These comics are timeless. Even after years since being published they still hold up.
