WOW. I just read 'The River of Doubt', after spotting it on your 'shelf', and LOVED it. I hated to see it end.

    talk to ya soon.

Bensco, Just wanted to say hey, I love your beagles! I had two for awhile but one died a couple years ago - the other is still with us. I also had a handicapped sister but she passed away at 15. I'm sure caring for your brother as an adult is not easy for you. God bless. Amy

'Lincoln' is a definite goal for 2008 (especially since it's a political year, and all.)

Glad 'Book Thief' ended up well for you. I never thought there was a chance you wouldn't like it.
I'm going to read 'Into the Wild' this week since the movie is so talked about, and I really liked 'Into Thin Air' (also Jon Krakauer) even tho they both are sad but true events.

Thanks for the note about Beegley(my dog). Your dogs are cute. Mine is very stubborn but smart do you find the same thing with your Beagles? He is very lovable so I tend to forget the stubbon side. :)

Yes, I was surprised at how rough a journey 'The Road' was, and was hoping for more (hope) at the end. I enjoyed the style (no names, a spare narrative), and it did make for a good discussion. Bummed me out though, generally. I do feel it has potential to be assigned reading in a future generation (and have high school kids of the future debating its merits).

Read 'The Book Thief', by Marcus Zusak (comes out in paperback next week), and it will not disappoint on any level.

    good luck with school tomorrow---\

    Hi there,

Really delighted that you like my bookshelf! We'd almost surely be friends if we were nearby, no? Books tell so much.

What are you reading these days?

I must confess I listened to 1776 on CD on a road trip with a book-loving friend (the only book on CD I've ever listened to), We loved hearing David McCullough read it, and it was really captivating. I still have the CD's (I think) if you are so inclined.

    Hi Suzanne-
Just added some books. thanks for the prompt. Wish I could rate them, too, tho. All the books on my shelf are ones I liked, and the ones near the bottom are most recent reads. Noticed you have many in common.
'Top Ten List' is a list of real faves (some of which you've read).
I think I'm getting the hang of it....
