Originally from North Carolina, I've lived and worked in Israel for the most part since 1981. As a licensed tour guide (and tourism consultant), I travel around the country with individuals, families, small groups and large tour groups, showing off this most beautiful of countries (IMHO). The best part of my job is that I get to meet people...more »

Wow what a wonderful thought, to be honest I am busy getting the book into bookstores
in the United States, and still need to get it in D.C, and LA. The sales on Amazon and lulu.com
are really good. Yes, it could be in future, but I would need to make contacts in
bookstores there, and even though my parents own a place, I am Israeli born, and my
brother lived there, not sure I am that connected. Did you order it on Amazon?
It is very funny and hope you get to read it.l

Wow, good luck on move and finding an apartment, my brother is doing same thing, with
five kids! Ouch. I am really enjoying my book talks, people really love hearing
behind the scenes. take care and good luck with continued tours

Hi Suz, I am a native Tarheel, from Belmont in Gaston County. For about 20 years I worked in ladies hosiery manufacturing (Christian Dior, and other high fashion lines). The reason for the Stowe and Gaston County books is that I have done a lot of geneaological research on the families of Gaston County.
Sounds as if you have an intresting job/lifestyle and some intresting reading.
How long have you been in Israel??

Well, Howdy, Suzanne. I am honored to be considered your friend. No, I have never been in the Middle East. I spent my time in the diplomatic corps largely as a member of the US delegation to the UN in both NY and Geneva, and here and there in Latin America and the Far East. One of my great regrets was never visiting Israel. I was very close to the Israeli delegation to the UN, as our two countries shared many common interests in the field I specialized in. So nice meeting you. Jim

Hi again, thanks for accepting. If you're interested in Sharpe (Sean is all right too (LOL)), we have a nice group called the Greenjackets' Inn. It's discussions about the Sharpe books, Napoleonic Wars and the films there. Please come and have a look around. I'll send you an invite.

    Hi Suzanne,
I presume that's your name, if not please correct me. Oman is beautiful in a way. You should visit it. I don't actually know if Israelis can visit Oman, but I suppose you have a US passport. If so you won't have problems. Do come. Your wish list sounds wonderful and alluring. I too love to visit places, but I haven't had many opportunities. Spain, of course, would be on anybody's list. My list incudes places like, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Uzbekistan, Kazakistan etc besides Spain. China too is worth seeing I suppose. I am actually a copy editor, hence don't really get a chance to go out. I was in India till about 8 months back. Now I am work for a newspaper here. The standard of newspapers here dismal and I am really beginning to feel suffocated. In a year's time I plan to come to Israel. I want to see the places Jesus walked, the Jordan river, Jerusalem etc. Yes, I am a Christian, but I am not religious. Thanks a lot for offering to show me around.
What have you been reading. I am reading two books at present -- Diary of a Bad Year by Cooetze and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Both are splendid works.
Do come to Oman. If you come you must make it by March, after that it gets pretty hot, desert land you see
    Bye for now
    Take care
