Oh and BTW, thanks for the friend invite :)
Hi Suz, I am a native Tarheel, from Belmont in Gaston County. For about 20 years I worked in ladies hosiery manufacturing (Christian Dior, and other high fashion lines). The reason for the Stowe and Gaston County books is that I have done a lot of geneaological research on the families of Gaston County.Sounds as if you have an intresting job/lifestyle and some intresting reading. How long have you been in Israel??

Well, Howdy, Suzanne. I am honored to be considered your friend. No, I have never been in the Middle East. I spent my time in the diplomatic corps largely as a member of the US delegation to the UN in both NY and Geneva, and here and there in Latin America and the Far East. One of my great regrets was never visiting Israel. I was very close to the Israeli delegation to the UN, as our two countries shared many common interests in the field I specialized in. So nice meeting you. Jim
Hello, Welcome to the Greenjacket's Inn. Nice to have a former Tarheel in the group. You have a very intresting selection of books. See you at the Inn, Ben

Hi Suzanne,I presume that's your name, if not please correct me. Oman is beautiful in a way. You should visit it. I don't actually know if Israelis can visit Oman, but I suppose you have a US passport. If so you won't have problems. Do come. Your wish list sounds wonderful and alluring. I too love to visit places, but I haven't had many opportunities. Spain, of course, would be on anybody's list. My list incudes places like, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Uzbekistan, Kazakistan etc besides Spain. China too is worth seeing I suppose. I am actually a copy editor, hence don't really get a chance to go out. I was in India till about 8 months back. Now I am work for a newspaper here. The standard of newspapers here dismal and I am really beginning to feel suffocated. In a year's time I plan to come to Israel. I want to see the places Jesus walked, the Jordan river, Jerusalem etc. Yes, I am a Christian, but I am not religious. Thanks a lot for offering to show me around. What have you been reading. I am reading two books at present -- Diary of a Bad Year by Cooetze and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. Both are splendid works.Do come to Oman. If you come you must make it by March, after that it gets pretty hot, desert land you seeBye for nowTake careVarghese Do keep in touch
You do have a great job. I am a journalist, loves to travel: loves to meet people but don't actually get to meet people from your part of the world. i am for now in Muscat (Oman). Would like to be your friend, how about that?regardsvarghese
