I'm a college student majoring in Linguistics. I love foreign languages in general and currently I know French, a bit of German, and only a pinch of Russian. I'm continuing to study Russian at university and I'm hoping to also learn either Chinese or Japanese, Arabic at some point, and maybe something from another language family. Like Icelandic.
As far as books goes I'm a big fan of Dostoevsky. However my "favorite" authors expand a lot farther than that: Oscar Wilde, Evelyn Waugh, Jonathan Safran Foer, Anne Rice, Vladimir Nabokov. It's probably easier to say what I don't enjoy rather than list all the things I do enjoy. I don't enjoy Hemingway very much although I would take him any day over Stephenie Meyer.
I read at a slow and dull pace, which I wish I didn't, but there you are. As a result I only read about 30 books in a year and it makes me look lame, but I enjoy what I do get around to reading and that's the important part.
I'm hoping to fall into Neurolinguistics research or something wild like that. I'd also be tickled with joy if I got a novel published. We'll see how far that gets me.
