Hey, there!Yeah, I know. I've been kinda absent. Long story short, my computer broke down. Twice! The second time it was with the compliments of the technicians who supposedly should have fixed it in the first place. They messed with some computer components and then they had to clean up after their own mess. So it took a litle longer than it should have taken. But, anyway, everything's alright now, I guess. At least it seems alright. And, once again, I'm glad to know that Palahniuk hasn't been disappointing you. I also liked Lullaby very much. And the main character is very captivating, indeed. It's one my fav Palahniuk's books.I finished Rant in the meantime. And I must say it's not for everyone. Besides the fact that it isn't a narration, the story can also seem to take a while to evolve. But once it does, the concept behind it is a very good one in my opinion. It's mind-breaking. A little bit hard to follow at times. But that's fine with me, because I tend to like those kinds of stories (whether in terms of books or movies). I don't know if you've read it or not and I'm really not sure I wanna recommend this one to you. I wanna recommendt it, but frankly I'm afraid you won't enjoy it... Maybe you should give it a go. You know I'm always in favour of giving Palahniuk a chance.Well, and I've read American Psycho also. And it blew my mind away! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Couldn't seem to put the book down. And I gotta say I've found it to be even better than the movie itself (which is in fact my second fav movie, right after Fight Club). As for Easton Ellis' writing style... Well, I loved it when it comes to American Psycho, and I also liked a lot in Lunar Park. But he just wasn't able to captivate me in The Informers. I've found it to be a rather dull book. Maybe it was not his writing style in particular. I think it was more because of the story in it. Have you read it yet? Each chapter is a different story. Only I didn't think too highly of most of those stories. To be honest, I only started to like the book past page 200 or so. I really liked the stories from then on. It sounded more like Ellis' work. And I really, really liked the last story. My fav one in all the book.Sorry to have taken so long to reply. But I didn't have internet here at home (as you know by now) and, quite frankly, I'm really not too keen on cyber-cafes.
Thanks for the recommendation. Peace. ~zawadi
I'm so glad you enjoyed Invisible Monsters! Really... I was thinking that maybe I'd made a mistake by having recommended it to you. But, yeah, those scenes with her parents are priceless. They live in a completely different / private world. But my fav scenes are the ones set in the bathroom of the house that is for sale, and also the the one where the real estate agent tries to control Manus by nailing him to the floor. Simply hilarious! And I'll make sure to let you know what I thought of Easton Ellis' writing style. I also like the movies based on his books (especially American Psycho), so I'm kinda hoping not to get disappointed.
Sorry, was out of town. Salem's Lot would is one of King's four best books, along with IT, The Shining, and Desperation. What do you think?
Uh-oh! You're not enjoying Invisible Monsters all that much, huh? Well, I think it was funny. I remember having some good laughs on its account, while I was reading it.I've finished Lullaby a while ago, and I also enjoyed it a lot. Maybe more than I've enjoyed Invisible Monsters. But I don't think I will recommend it to you, or else you might end up cursing me.Tell me what you thought of Invisible Monsters once you finish reading it. It gets better by the page and even more so near the end.And thanks for keeping me updated on this one.Take care. And good luck for the rest of the book (I guess... I hope).
HI SutirtedI have updted my website and I invite you to come and check it out.www.freewebs.com/jaytloh, yeahHAPPY EASTER!!!!
Yeah, Batman: The Animated Series was the best. It still comes on Jetix, and I still watch it everyday. I'm never tired of seeing the old reruns -and you're right. There was a story where Gotham's water supply was going to be poisoned (featuring the Scarecrow.) It is called "Dreams in Darkness." It's funny, there have been three Batman stories using this same scenario: "The Man Who Laughs" (Graphic Novel), "Dreams in Darkness" (Batman: The Animated Series), and "Batman Begins!"
Hey!I've just finished reading "The Man Who Laughs" and all I have to say is: "Sutirted, you have to finish it!!!" It was great to read this tale of Batman's first encounter with the Joker!! I haven't read the other stories yet, but I will eventually. Now I will take a little break from the Dark Knight and move on to the Man of Steel; however, Batman makes a cameo. Can't wait until next weekend!
My Mistake!"Tailers" should be "TRAILERS!!!!"
HI sutirted!I am going to read it tomorrow!!! Been waiting all week for it. Last week I read "Batman: Year One" again just to set the mood for this story. Plus I've been teasing myself with the tailers to "The Dark Knight" to also be prepared. Can't Wait for this version of Batman's first encounter with the Joker!!
Hi sutirted!!!No prolblem. Glad to ask you and add to you as a friend. I finally recieved, "Batman: Man who Laughs" on Wednesday, bot won't have a chance to read it until next week. I will give my review after I read it, and I'm planning to read some Superman books as well.See You- Jay
Great!I really hope you enjoy it just like I did.
Although I've given the same rating to all of Palahniuk's books I've read so far, I must say I enjoyed some of them more than the others. Still, I think all of them deserve the highest rating. Hum... Maybe there should be more rating stars available, so that I could show how much I enjoyed the books in a more accurate way. But, anyways... If I understood it correctly, you've read Fight Club, Survivor and Choke so far, right? At least you only rated those ones. Well, in my opinion, you were a little unfortunate for having read Survivor right after Fight Club. Right now, Survivor is my second favorite Palahniuk book and before that one I've read Diary, Choke and Invisible Monsters (Fight Club being the first book I've read and my favorite one, of course). So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think I was lucky for having read the other three books (not as good, in my opinion) prior to Survivor. Once you read Survivor, the other ones (such as Choke) can only seem lower in quality. But this is only my opinion, though. I've met other people who thought the world of Choke and actually regard it as the best thing Palahniuk has ever written.Maybe you should give the other ones a go sometime. I really liked them all, but Invisible Monsters was my second favorite one right until I finished reading Survivor. Then it fell to third place. But it's very good nonetheless. Please, please, don't let Choke get in the way.But I really think you should have had the luck of saving the best for last, just like I've had.
