I've had little time for shelfari lately, due to a lot of changes in my personal life. I've recently moved into a new apartment :)
Despite the increased load of work both professionally and at school, I've had lots of time to read. I've been exploring a bit lately and discovered wonderful authors such as Christopher Moore and several... more »

I was glad I had read the book before I saw the movie. Always read the book before you see the movie!
It was refreshing to read these ideas (and conspiracies) in a main-stream novel like this book. I don't think that there were anything original or NEW in this book, the only thing worth noting is how much the book with its contents appealed to so many people.
Politics and religion aside, the mystery and plot in the book is, however, exciting and truly worth the read.

My all-time favorite book when I was (a lot) younger (yes I was probably way too young to read it). I can't decide if I should read it again or let it remain ever magnificent in my memory.

I was quite amused by this story and the main character, and to my surprise I have to admit I went and bought another Gregory-book after having finished this one. The story is well-written and a must for anyone who enjoys to read historical fiction.
I especially would like to comment on the main character in the book, a wonderfully androgynous female who simply refused to be put in a box, but did her own thing from start to finish.

I truly loved her Farseer-series, and the Liveship-series to the point where anything else she might write, would become a disappointment. I kept an open mind and heart, but I felt that this book was difficult to become a part of.

I devoured this book in a day, it was an easy read, and I won't say it was particularly well written. But it was thoroughly and horribly captivating. I love a good apocalypse and this was the pinnacle of all apocalypses. It was too short and too easy, I think the story is so good that it easily could have been longer and more detailed. The characters could have been better portrayed, the mystery more slowly unraveled, generally the whole book would have benefited with a tad more added depth. But for entertainment and a genuine scare, it was awesome.

I love to just touch this book. Leather-bound, each page like silk, wrapped in gold. It feels, looks and is a beautiful book. Truly a worthy look/book for something as valuable as the work of Shakespeare. My favorite play will always be Romeo and Juliette, but as I grow older and reread what I previously didn't understand, I find that I value his work in a much deeper sense than when I was younger. I keep returning to mull over his choice of words, and enjoy the imagery he used and the passion in it.

I didn't find this book particularly scary, but the suspense was driving me nuts! It's such a slow and meticulous read, the driving force being that it simply refuses to let go of the suspense and thrill. Every page turned brought another mystery which kept fueling the desire to read more. The vampire theme itself is old and well used, what made this book special, to me, was how well built the story is. I really recommend it :)

Suspenseful read, funny and easy-going. I read it in a couple hours, and wasn't particularly impressed, though I must say it was more fulfilling than other books within the genre. If you're in the mood for a sultry and shallow story, I recommend this book. But if you're looking for something with meaning and depth, stand clear!
