I've had little time for shelfari lately, due to a lot of changes in my personal life. I've recently moved into a new apartment :)
Despite the increased load of work both professionally and at school, I've had lots of time to read. I've been exploring a bit lately and discovered wonderful authors such as Christopher Moore and several... more »

    Handling the Undead

    by John Ajvide Lindqvist
    • Rated 5 stars

One of the ugliest and scariest novels I've ever read! Pure old fashioned horror with a realistic, satiric twist. What would really happen to a modern society if suddenly the dead came back to life? In this book, they do, rotting and stinking they rise from their graves and what do they want? To come home!
Not only a horrific tale of undead with no rest, but a wrenching tale of love. What would YOU be capable of doing to see a breath of life in your beloved dead one? In Lindquists book the dead walk and the living do unspeakable things to protect them and bring them home, in the hopes that they might regain their humanity once more. Read it!

Excellent humour and a higly entertaining tale! A lady I know said it's EXACTLY like what happened to her dad (she's also of East European origins). A must read!

Honest, entertaining and slightly shocking; this biography is excellently written.

I absolutely could NOT stop reading this book. Great tale, believable characters, and a genuine feeling of walking down the streets in Barcelona of the 1300. I wish it was longer!

A book about a book, and what a book! A mysterious book discovered at a dark, secret place, a mystery unfolding slowly, until the entire story in all it's wonderful pain is exposed. Had to love it, and couldn't put it down!

Does women need men to be happy? Is a woman's life worthless unless she is a mother and a wife? Unmarried Akhila, 45 years old, a woman in a country where marriage is regarded as the fulfillment of a woman's destiny - is struggling with these questions and the meaning of her life. Is it possible that she can exist purely for herself and be happy doing that? One day, she decides to put the question up for discussion, and joins the ladies coupe on a train. During the travel, she learns from the lives lived by other women as they confide her the story of their lives. Through them she might find the answer to her questions. I found this book to be really well-written and rich in detail, description and story. I recommend it to everyone.
