Oh my gosh! I am really sorry!! I completely misunderstood that. I went back and read it again, and now I get it!!!! I say america as in the United states... I guess I've never really thought of it that way, but you are right. I knew you were in Brazil, but I had thought maybe you were on vacation or something... I'm really sorry! I have lived in America my whole life, so I'm not completely knoledgable on what People in other countries have music-wise... I'm glad you know savin' me, that's one of my favorites!!!

Just watched your video! That was cool, what was the first song? I don't know it. The last song however I love!!!!
    Jump5 Rocks!!!!!
You were the first one to be killed right? Lol, that was pretty cool! =)

You're lucky to be close enough to a beach to go to it. The closest beach to me is, like, seven or eight hours away...)=
    good luck avoiding death! TTFN

Lucky! So, a lawyer.... Cool! gtg is got to go...
What state are you in? Cause I live in the south as well. Texas actually.

Yes that is me, but I don't actually own the monkey, but I work at a wildlife facillity so I get to play with her all the time. She's my baby. Her name is michelle. I also work with Lemurs, Camels, and Kangaroos! It's a fun job.

It's a video showing pictures of me, my friends, and my family. It goes to the song photograph by nickleback, do you know that song? or that group? here's a video if it helps....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQKTrSQ-YWU&feature=related

I do not have a myspace, but I have a facebook. I believe the picture is the same though.... I'm not on it much but I do get on every now and then. Look me up sometime!

That's cool, film making. I would, I can come up with script ideas easily, but none of my friends would ever participate for me. Most of them are too shy for video, And it's really hard to film and act by yourself. Ah well, Ta ta for now!

I gtg! I'm making a movie, not a big picture movie or anything...just a small video.
BTW, just read your profile message, and I would LOVE to join in the search for narnia's door. I will have to search here in america though.... I'll tell you if I find it! XD

I have to apologize, my Portuguese is not just not good, it is non-existent. So I will need to rely on English.

What makes a good book? Where do you start?

Robin is correct in that you need to make a habit of reading, but I wouldn't limit yourself to any one genre. Even if you only want to write Fantasy, you can learn tools from other writers in every genre, because they are all the same. That is to say a good book contains: mystery, fantasy, romance, horror, suspense, action and adventure. What makes good books are good characters. Great stories with bad characters entertain you for the time you are reading the book, but fade immediately afterwards. Good characters live on with you. If the characters in your book are people your readers wished they knew in real life; if your setting is a place readers wished they could live; your book will be better than good, it will be cherished.

How do you start writing? Day dream. Think of something great, something you'd like to have happen to you, perhaps some grand adventure, something that excites you. Then invent a character to be you, Then figure out a way for the adventure to plausibly happen. When you are done, you will have a novel in your head that just needs to be written out.

But always read, read and study. Study how other writers do things. How they write dialog, how they don't tell you what is happening so much as show you, and then let you figure it out for yourself. Don't say, "Bob was sad" describe him doing sad things, and let the reader decide for themselves that Bob is sad. See how writer's use description, reflection (a character's thoughts), and dialog as the three primary tools to tell a story. Use all three, don't rely on just one or two. And start with a mystery--a question you present to the reader that will make them want to read more to find out the answer.

"The tiny box sat on the table and I was terrified to open it." If this was your first sentence, everyone would want to know what's in the box. Don't tell them too quickly, maybe you won't even tell them until the end of the book.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey Isadora...
Sorry it took so long to reply I've been off line for the most part doing final editing for my husband's 2nd book.

I'd be more than happy to help you in any way that I can. I'm really more of a "business side" of things so once you have a completed manuscript I can tell you where to go from there.

As for "how to get started". The best advice I can give you there is start by reading a bunch of things. If your goal is fantasy I would start by going through Shelfari and read some of the "mainstays" - Robert Jordon's Wheel of Time, Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, C.S. Lewis Narnia and much much more. Study what they do and why they do it.

The biggest things to get right are the plot - outline. Try to figure out what the conflict will be and how you will work it out then provide some misdirections along the way so the reader is kept wondering.

I don't think you are ever to young to start. My husband started writing at 13!! Sure he wasn't published until 47 but he still was doing it from a young age.

Feel free to answer other questions as you go along and when you have the book done send me a synopsis (one page) and the first 20 pages - I'll read it over and give you some more specfic advice from there.

Good luck and again sorry it took me so long to respond!!

I'm so sorry, I didn't even catch that question. no eclipse and breaking dawn are not as sad as new moon. Eclipse is very action filled, and Breaking dawn is a lot of lovey dovey stuff. I enjoyed them. Sign of the qin is not one of my favorite books, but it's not bad. It was confusing at first but once I got the Idea, I really enjoyed it. Yes, they're making inkheart a movie, but if you can find it I would suggest reading the book first, it looks as though they changed a few things in the movie. It's a really good fantasy book.
