I've been an avid reader since I was 6 years old and I still manage to make the time in my busy life to read at least 1 book a week (which is down a lot from when I was in school - we're talking 3 or 4 books a week). I generally read a good mix of bestsellers, critically acclaimed and award-winners, classics and chick lit with a few... more »

I love the world that Condie has created and every single one of her characters is totally compelling. Can't wait for the next in the series!

The author is an okay (if too matter-of-fact and lacking spark) writer but I guess I wanted it to be juicier and a bit more scandalous. It's a readable journal-type book that held my attention but I didn't find any interesting or new insights into a really bizarre facet of the sex work industry.

These books are really fun reads. Sure, they read like they're written to be adapted into movies (they are) and the writing is nothing special, but darned if I don't happily rip through them and eagerly anticipate the next in the series. Well done James Frey and your stable of naive, way underpaid writers!

    J. Courtney Sullivan has a real way of making her charcters instantly familiar to the reader, as though they're jumping into a story they've been reading already. I tore through this, totally falling in love with Alice and Maggie and Ann Marie (didn't much like Kathleen though) but...the ending felt abrupt. Still, it's a great read and I'm totally chomping at the bit for Sullivan's next novel.

A clever and readable modern adaptation of Jane Eyre. I do have to say that once you put the Jane and Rochester characters into contemporary society, their relationship is hella creepy.

Ami McKay hits another one out of the park! It didn`t affect me quite as much as The Birth House did, but I loved Moth and all of the crazy characters she met along her journey. I just wish it had been longer - the ending came way too quickly.

I loved the concept of interspersing her stories with her mother's journal entries but ultimately I was left wanting more. Diane Keaton was a part of so many classic films yet there wasn't a lot of behind-the scenes info. What little there was felt like a tease, almost like it was over-edited. Still, Kaeton comes off as a way cool woman who I'd totally love to hang out with.

An intriguing premise with a heroine who's a complete moron only 50% of the time. I also like that the love interest stuff was spare (although perhaps a bit too much - Alex jumped to the love spell way too quickly). Looking forward to the next one.

As always, Meg Cabot's characters, setting and general concept is charming but...it took me a while to get into the groove of the book. All of the time jumping around and the shoehorning of her modern story into the Persephone myth was a bit more loosey goosey than I would have liked. Still, it got good towards the end and I'll definitely check out the next book.

A great, thrilling read that had me sitting up all night to finish the book. Tris is an amazing role model for young women. I can't wait until the next in the series is released!
