seems like someone went book shopping recently - Things fall apart is a great choice. Even portrait in sepia was decent.
No - I thought it was rather formulaic - he was just trying to sell the book because of its sex.
im reading one hundred years of solitude ..though it was not on my list for now... i just felt like reading it again ..id read it a long time ago ....

I will be interested to see how you like Perfume---a very unusual premise and quite gripping.

Hi Subhasree, How's it going? I noticed you have a Hans Christian Andersen book in your bookshelf. What's your favorite Anderson story? He was a great storyteller. Cheers,Dan

Here you can see www.shakespeares-sonnets.com
About Shakespear , i suggest you to read at least his sonnets & his famous plays , to get familiar with his high style of literary writing . he is absolutely magnificant one.
Here is the link to one of his most famous stories: The Garden of Forking Paths: http://courses.essex.ac.uk/lt/lt204/forking_paths.htmThe Library of Babel: http://jubal.westnet.com/hyperdiscordia/library_of_babel.htmlTion...: http://interglacial.com/~sburke/pub/Borges_-_Tlon,_Uqbar,_Orbis_Tertius.htmlI remember reading some more, but don't have the links now. I love the short story format in general.
hello, what do you think about Shakespear??
Saw that you are interested in Borges - found some of his good stories online. Let me know if you need the links. He is a master!
I just saw 'Lila' added to your reading list. It is one of my favorite books. It has so much clarity in metaphysical thinking. Specially, after Zen... Pirsig seems to have structured his thoughts well around 'Quality'. I love such soul searching trips - they sound so inspiring.
Yes, we do not quite get to know about that civilization apart from the pieces of literature that we can lay our hands on. And definitely much imagination is there, so much more than facts. But somehow, I would love to believe that the women were as enigmatic and charming as they are made out...:)I am so very sorry that I could not get hold of the Lost Steps...I am not reading much now. My MBA semester is coming :( Please do let me know once you have finished the lost steps.

He hasn't written a novel. Only short stories. His best collection is called "Fictions". Or you can do better by picking up his "Collected Fictions" (Complete Short Stories). You won't regret it, I promise :) Make sure you pick up the Andrew Hurley translation (Penguin). That is best.Links :http://www.amazon.com/Borges-Collected-Fictions-Jorge-Luis/dp/0140286802/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211119532&sr=8-1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BorgesP.S : Also try Juan Rulfo's Pedro Paramo. You will be hooked to Latin American lit after that!
Jorge Luis Borges ... My fav writer ever, Latin American or otherwise. That man is brilliant! I urge you to read him at once.
Lost Steps? I love Latin American fiction. Just picked up "The Tango Singer" today. Looking forward to reading that.
Hi. V bad news. The Lost Steps is unavailable :'( Waited for soooo long. Felt like crying. Nayways I completed Akhenaten. Fantastic it is... Well, I envy the charm and boldness of ancient Egypitian women. Take Nefertiti or Cleopatra...they were all amazing. What do you think?
