I was first attracted by the cover of the book (despite the saying, it does aid me a lot in my book buying decisions) and once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. Strauss is a talented writer, the subject matter fascinating (I had no idea that there was such a thing as a society of PUAs, much less its vast size), and I really enjoyed the anecdotes of famous celebrities in the book. And in a lot of cases, I found myself agreeing to a lot of the things he said, in terms of the pick up technique. I was kind of sad about that, are we women that gullible?

At times I found him to be an a**hole but most of time I found myself rooting for him. He's unexplicably appealing. Funny book. That is, if you enjoy stories of excessive drinking, insults, sex and puking.

This book is fiction, but based on historical facts. More specifically, about the Borgia family. There is incest, murder, so much worldly sins and other disturbing events, but when you get down to it, you can tell that the father really loves his children and wants what’s best for them. Of course, the father, being the Pope, shouldn’t have any children at all, but I suppose in those days these things did happen. It’s a very interesting read, something I would definitely recommend.

this book, very accurately and in detail, portrayshigh school society, which at times, can be cruel. Even though the main character can be a tad annoying (at least I thought so), you can’t help but feel sorry for her. And despite the fact that it’s depressing, it’s a very good read and brings back memories of adolescence.

I liked this story from the mystery aspect. I wish I knew about greek and the classics so I could have enjoyed it more, but even without it, it was a thoroughly enjoyable novel.

One of my favorite books ever! A friend recommended it when I told him I was in a bad mood… was laughing a few minutes later. It still doesn’t fail to make me laugh. Though I didn’t think the first story of the book, chipped beef, made much sense.
David Sedaris is very perceptive and has a biting wit. Writers like Augusten Borroughs have been compared to Sedaris, since they’re in the same genre i suppse… but really, it doesn’t come close..
