I am an avid reader who "re-discovered" my passion for books after I graduated from college (where, as an English major, I had no time for pleasure reading) several years ago. I'm currently teaching and encourage my students to read, so I end up reading a lot of classic and young adult literature, as this is what they read in class and on their... more »

I would not recommend anyone who can't handle awful child abuse read this. The stories really are unimaginable and sickening.

Silly little book. I plan to give it to someone as a gift.

Excellent book! I think everyone should give it a chance. I have recently become a nonfiction fan, and this is one of the better pieces I have read.

I am not sure how I feel about this one. It wasn't a bad book; it had a lot of interesting characters and a unique plot, but the format was very odd. I don't know that I would recommend it, but I wouldn't tell someone not to read it, either.

I really enjoyed this book. It was probably a bit longer than I would have liked, but the story is interesting and the twists and turns keep the reader interested.

This was an excellent memoir. I cannot believe that Blanco lived through the type of torture she did as a child, but I am so glad she has become a spokesperson and voice for bullied students and people who lived through bullying in their past. I think this book is one everyone should read.

This was a pretty good piece of young adult lit. Some of it was a little corny, but most of it was pretty well-written, interesting, and sometimes comical.

This was an odd book - it was a bit hokey and ridiculous at times. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it, either. I would not recommend it, unless you REALLY like teen lit and can handle the absurdity of the whole thing (which is intentional, but a little too much for my taste).

This book was a bit tough to get in to initially. Hopkins' style is really different, but quite interesting - she goes back and forth between characters, writing in a poem-like style and creating letters, words and shapes with her text. It was a good read, and I would definitely recommend it to teen lit lovers (with the warning that it has some very touchy content).
