StoryHeart

I am a writer in love with stories. I prefer books with quirky, off-beat heroes ( more often, heroines) and authors who create rich, whimsical worlds that carry me away. I also like natural histories and nature and travel memoirs and books about art and artists. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm most likely found in a darkened cinema, or... more »

Hey There, thanks for the recommendation. I'm almost done with Blood & Thunder, will hit White Tiger next...

what i'm holding in the photo is the head of "Bessie, the two-headed Cow"... and that's No Bull! heh heh.

I use to manage a Victorian oddity museum on NYC's Lower East Side, called the Freakatorium, now sadly closed. --james

A novel! completely the hardest kind of writing for me. But its great to know you are on that road. I write screenplays and short stories but my writing life is still to totally take off. Teaching is so consuming. Next year i intend leaving mumbai and living in a small town to finish my first book of short stories.

How is NaNo going for you? I have fallen by the wayside and know I won't win but I am still trying to get as many words as possible before months' end. I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving and I'm sending you good writing vibes!

The Stinky Cheese Man's b-day is celebrated with copious amounts of cheese -- stinky or otherwise. I don't have Blessed Are the Cheesemakers on my shelf, but it makes me think of Monty Python ...

Hello, lovely Vancouverite! Thanks for the friend invite. I took a quick peek at your shelf and was sold when I saw that you own The Stinky Cheese Man. Regrettably, it's not one that I own myself, but a friend and I celebrate Stinky Cheese Man's birthday every year.

Wonderful. Off the top of my head Andrew Salkey's Caribbean Folk Tales; Island Voices and Stories from the Caribbean are collections of Caribbean Folk stories which are light and funny reading. The other is Cric Crac a compilation of Trinidad and Tobago's oral traditions.

NaNo is going better than I expected this year. I contribute my success to the weekend so far. If it weren't for hermit weekends I would not have a leg to stand on. I am going to continue giving this project my all but I have to balance my workouts at the gym and a full-time job and somehow try not to fall off the radar with friends and family too much. It's such a challenge but I love to be busy. Here's wishing you 100% success...keep up the good work!
