There's always time enough for eating and breathing, but never time enough for reading. Not since I had children.
I have made 'my wish list' on the shelf my 'I couldn't finish it shelf'. Just so I don't forget the 'bad' books or books that I might try again later.

Good question, now that I think about it...books don't scare me that much. I thought the Stand would be scary, but it was powerful, and sometimes vivid, but not scary. I think movies scare me more than books. Although I did read Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind and there is a scene when a child is killed by molten lead being forced down his throat that made me throw the book across the room...but I picked it up and finished it. Even Carrie wasn't too scary. So perhaps I'll give Patterson a try one of these days. Didn't he write Kiss the Girls which I did see and didn't think was too scary as a movie, so I was just being a scardy cat :)

    Hey Stephen,

Let me know what you think of the James Patterson book please. I'm curious about his books, but I'm worried they might be too scary. Thanks

Glad you liked 'In Harms Way'. Some more books that come to mind are two non-fiction, three fiction. First, if you haven't already, you may want to check out both An Army At Dawn and The Day of Battle both by Richard Atkinson and both are non-fiction about WWII. I am half-way thru An Army At Dawn and like it very much. Also, three other fictional books you may like are Eye of The Neddle by Ken Follet (centers around WWII), The Winds of War by Herman Wouk (much more historical fiction than fiction), and The Marines of Autumn by James Brady which is centered around the Korean War (truly a great book, one of my top 10 of all time). Happy Reading!

Well, I like to investigate different genres. I will have a run on erotica, but not just yet. I am doing a 50 book challenge by different authors for another book site. I am reading no. 31 at the moment, Sula by Toni Morrison. I have until New Years Eve to finish my challenge. It shouldn't be too hard though!

as I recall, The Sword is the biggest and First King was the shortest. You could always try audio on your daily commute? The series was also, in my opinion, inconsistent. Most of the books were good but there seemed to be a lemon every couple books. The Sword is definitely the best of the bunch! The last one I read was The Gypsy Morph and to me it was the weakest of the series.

I am reading the mammoth book of lesbian erotica by Barbara Cardy. It is my first erotica book and there will be plenty more.

His books are grouped most of the time in trilogies. Next is Elfstones of Shanarra and then Wishsong of Shanarra. Terry Brooks actually suggets the Knight of the Word trilogy as last. There is also a single The First King of Shanarra that can be read as a stand alone at any point. It introduces Allanon as a child. Knight of the Word does not seem to be related to Shanarra but it does start to tie in when you get to Armageddon's Children....sort of. It may have been Terry brooks plan all along to tie the two series togteher but he never said it till Armageddon's Children came out after something like 10 years.

Armageddon's Children, then The Elves of Cintra and finally the Gypsy Morph are the last three in the Shanarras he wrote to connect his Knight of the Word series with The Sword of Shanarra. He left enough of a gap to fill in more books though. I was expecting them to totally connect and there are a few thousand years still in the gap! Amrageddon's Children was a real cliffhanger! Loved it!

It's actually on CBS Weds @ 9. It's all about the FBI behavioral analysts unit and how they figure out profiles of serial killers. I like it because it tends to focus more on the why than the how of murders. They also tend to reference real life serial killers like Ted Bundy etc. It's really cool, but not too bloody. I don't CSI cause sometimes they show too much icky stuff. (How's that for clinical description.)

Terry Brooks suggests an order for the books..the order they were written in. So Elfstones of Shanarra would be next. Then he suggests Wishsing of Shanarra. You can also read The First King of Shanarra at any early point. The other theory for reading Shanarra is some folks want to read it in chronological order. After reading it twice I am now doing a third reread in chronological order. He has a huge website filled with info and lists. I love the first book but then my next favorite woukd have to be Armageddon's Children. This serfies is so big you can read it for years LOL!
