"Just When The Caterpillar Thought The World Was Over, It Became a Butterfly"~ Proverb

I enjoy reading realistic fiction YA; with this genre, the characters are more believable. I also like a wee bit of fantasy fiction. I laugh out loud or smirk when something is funny and loathe characters with no common sense, or if a character... more »

  • Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
    • Rated 4 stars

I absolutely loved this book. If you are looking for a good, quick read about music with realistic characters than this book is for you. Other than the main characters dropping F bombs on almost every page, this book is amazing. I did indeed see the movie first, which is completey different. They should have stayed true to the book. Anyway, Nick is a sweet guy and I can understand Norah, together they are amazing.

  • Love, Stargirl
    • Rated 5 stars

I actually liked this book more than "Stargirl"! Reading from Stargirl's perspective was much more interesting. Dootsie sounds adorable, but she is definitely a pip! Leo might be Stragirl's "true love" but if Perry didn't have a harem I would have hoped Stargirl would like him better.
The way Stragirl saw life was really sort of fairytale. Though, I'm glad at least one of the books I have read the main character was almost always looking at the bright side of things.

  • Death Note: Zero
    • Rated 4 stars

This is by far one of my favorites from the Death Note series! I read all through class, my eyes glued to the page. I can't believe Light is getting so wrapped up in the Death Note. Well, I guess I shoudl have guessed.... Also I don't understand why Misa hasn't taken the time to think that Light is just using her.
    *** SPOILER ALERT ***
When Rem killed Ryuzaki or as I like to call him, L. I was in complete shock, actually I knew it was going to happen becasue someone spoiled it for me, but still!! How can you kill off a character as brilliant as L?! I'm a bit confussed with the whole Near and Mello situation, but I can already tell I like Near better than Mello.

I can't really call this a review, I'm just laying down my thoughts.

  • The Boy Book: A Study of Habits and Behaviors, Plus Techniques for Taming Them
    • Rated 3 stars

This book was cute. Though I still favor the first one, "The Boyfriend List". And since there weren't as many lists, there were less footnotes. I was happy that Noel was in the book a lot more, but I was so dissapointed Ruby didn't kiss him!! Arg, why?? Anyway, I give it three stars.

  • The Boyfriend List (Readers Circle)

This book was simpily adorable. Ruby Oliver is now in my list of top favorite characters along with Cyd Charrise from "Gingerbread" by Rachel Cohn. For once I went down to the library to pick up a book. Yesterday in fact. And I finished it today!

Noel and Gideon were my favorites from The Boy Friend List. I was angry at Kim and Jackson with "Roo". The footnotes were just as fun. Though I'd have to remind myself what Ruby was talking about going back and fourth between the two. After reading this I cannot wait to pick up "The Boy Book"! I'd recommend this to anyone looking for something quirky and quick to read through.

  • Burned
    • Rated 3 stars

My mother was kind enough to pick a copy up for me yesterday. I devoured the whole book today. I was glued to just about every page as I was addicted to Ethan Pattyn's romance, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Pattyn Von Stratten is a good mormon girl. She feels plain,as she takes care of her stay-at-home mother's jobs like cleaning, washing clothes, and taking care of her six younger siblings (technically five) along with the help of her favorite sister. While her mother lays around the house all day. When her father comes home with "Joannie" most nights, there is trouble. The kids are rushed back to their rooms as their mother takes the blow. The abuse. She has her first sex dream, it involves her school crush. Though instead of kissing Justin, it is Derrick who steals her heart for the moment. After the first kiss there are a lot more, with tequila and beer along the way. One day her father finds her in the said, "compromising postion" things keep goin in a downward siral for Pattyn and finally her father sends her to live with her Aunt J for the summer.

Living with Pattyn's Aunt J was supposed to be a punishment not a reward, but things start to go Pattyn's way. Then she meets Ethan. This can't just be a summer fling, right? Right. Ethan shows Pattyn love, more than she had asked for. Though if her father were to ever find out she was dating than, Ethan who was not mormon. They both would be dead. Literally. As Pattyn has to go back home at the end of summer vacation. *** SPOILER ALERT*** As Pattyn takes the abuse from her father bruises andlood are left. After that she finds out she is pregnant. Pregnant with Ethan's baby. Plans are made for Ethan to come down and get Pattyn one day after school, to take some time to ponder what they are going to do. Not noticing someone has taken off their liscence plates the police attempt to pull Ethan and Pattyn over while during their "escape". Pattyn orders Ethan not to stop, go faster. Until the accident. Ethan and the baby are both gone, dead. Pattyn is devistaed (so am I) and decides life no longer matters.... (I almost cried.)

I absolutely adored this book. I was intriguied with Pattyn and Ethan's romance, which I wish could be real ALL the time. I loved her Aunt J, she reminded me of the woman who played Bella's (Twilight) mother IN THE MOVIE. Happy, outgoing, smart, loving. I wish I had an aunt like that. I terribly annoyed that her mother, her sister, nor her own self told anyone (minus Ethan) about their beatings from their father/husband. This book explored the emotions of joy, excitement, lust and love, complete anger, hurt, devisation, and tradgedy. Weaving together a masterpiece, which I would recommend to any Ellen Hopkins fans or just someone looking for a quick yet intriguing and beautiful read. FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS.

  • Thirteen Reasons Why

I finished a book called “Thirteen Reasons Why”. It was about a high school boy named, Clay, who had a crush on a girl named Hannah Baker. Just weeks ago Hannah committed suicide. One day when Clay arrives home from school a shoebox with cassette tapes are waiting for him, with no return address on the box. Inside are seven tapes with thirteen reasons describing why Hannah decided to end her life. Clay is one of them.

As I read the first couple of chapters I thought, Hannah ended her life for pretty silly reasons. She was too whiny, for some reason it was other people’s fault she had killed herself. As I reached the middle of the book I had changed my mind. Hannah had been new to the high school and already rumors had began to circle around the school. She had lost friends because of one “perfect” girl named Courtney. There was a peeping Tom taking pictures of her in her own house. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “There is more to life outside these walls.” Outside of school kids still seemed to find Hannah. Hannah was fed up with the lies and terrible things she had witnessed at parties or been a victim of. Hannah had said, “It (suicide) had once been a passing thought through my head.” she had thought how she would end this tragic life many times. Then finally she let the worst of thing happen to her when she had decided to give up on everything. While Clay is listening to these tapes he is running around town following a map Hannah had left behind. Getting to know the Hannah he never gave himself the chance to. I thought this book was a page turner after you get past the first couple of stories. An eerie sad tale of a girl who let the world come crashing down. It was a memorable read, the blunt truth of what some or maybe most high school kids are like, and the emotional issues Hannah developed. All in all I give it four stars out of five.

Yay!!! Edward is back! Though Jacob is still there, waiting for Bella. Victoria is still out to get her and there are newborn vampires on the loose. It's bound to be a blood bath. Will Bella and Edward stay together? Or are Jacob and Bella more than friends. Will Edward even consider turning her into a vampire? So many qustions. I guess you'll have to read it. And yet again the Twiligt books do not fail to be a page turners. My eyes were glued to almost evey page. While I was devouring the book I noticed how delcious it was. I found Eclipse slightly better than Twilight. So go on read it!

Edward leaves, and Bella is left alone, helpless you could say. While he's gone she soon a different person and friendless. It takes a while but Bella is soon best friends with Jacob Black. Bella also finds that she knows more than more one mythical creature. Did I mention Victoria is back, and out to get her? This book wasn't as good as Twilight for me, though still a good book. Lets just say Jacob is nothing more than the perfect friend (my opion).

Bella just moved to Forks to live with her dad. The first day she's at her new school she is informed about the Cullen family. They are the odd ones out, yet beautiful. No one really knows much about them except that they are adopted. So the kids in school feed new kids interesting lies. Bella is falling in love with Edward (same for Edward), but soon finds out he's a vampire. This book kills the old vampire myths and is easily a page turner! I love this book a million times over and I'm excited for the release of Breaking Dawn. I dare you to read it.
