    A Dream Hunter Novel

Xypher long ago was betrayed by someone he thought he loved and has been condemned to eternal torture in Tartarus. Now he has one month to redeem himself through one good deed. With only vengeance on his mind, Xypher is beyond redemption until his desire for revenge conflicts with the feelings stirring in him for Simone.

Simone Dubois lead an eccentric life even before Xypher appeared in her world. She knew of the world of Dark Hunters and damions. As a medical examiner, she works with the dead in more than one capacity. She can truly say – she sees dead people. Those wrongly killed come to her to help find evidence to convict those responsible for their deaths. But Xypher is different and he changes her world from eccentric to bizarre.

Now with Simone’s world changing around her, they both find themselves doing things that they never thought possible. This was a great book to keep me to keep me occupied until the Acheron finally steps into the spotlight of the book entitled simply – Acheron. The teeny tiny excerpt at the end of the book was definitely a teaser and did not to satisfy my anticipation for the book. I’m sure it did what it was supposed to do – tease me.

  • Let It Be Love
    • Rated 3 stars

An Effington Novel Jonathon Effington, the Marquess of Helmsley, has always said when his “perfect” woman came along he would marry her at once. Until then he will enjoy his rendezvous with the many willing ladies around him – enjoying their company but never engaging his heart. Each year at his families Christmas Ball, Jonathan selects a tantalizing woman to share the pleasures of the evening – a holiday tradition. This year he finds his choice has been placed by captivating stranger who proposes marriage. Lady Fiona Fairchild is desperate. Her deceased father has arranged a marriage with an American!! She wants nothing to do with him or a marriage, but only marriage will gain her access to her inheritance and save her sisters. Taking matters in her own her hands; she proposes marriage to Jonathan to escape the arranged marriage to the American. While Jonathan may have said he would marry the perfect woman when she came along, he definitely isn’t ready to settle down. From a marriage proposal to a outrageous proposition that is sure to lead to scandal – Let It Be Love is a wonderful tale that is a true Victoria Alexander style. This book is the lead in to the Last Man Standing series. The American here is Daniel Sinclair who becomes the fourth in the four man pact. It is after watching the antics between Jonathan and Fiona that the men make the infamous bet and start a must read series. I await the last book - Seduction of a Proper Gentleman coming October 08.

  • Indecent: Sleeping With Secrets (Blaze)
    • Rated 5 stars

Book 2 in the Sleeping with Secrets series.

Colin McKenna has a hard time following the patient/doctor relationship when Lucky Clayborn walks into his office - for that matter so is she. She can’t imagine telling Colin her most personal thoughts when all she wants to do is get him naked – NOW! First on her agenda – get a new doctor. Second – show Colin just how indecent she can get.

This book is a prime example of how a book can be sizzling hot and hit on some heavy emotional subjects at the same time. Tori Carrington did an excellent job with this story and now I have to hunt for book 3. It seems either I don’t have it or it is misplaced in my boxes of books. I must read Wicked – Will’s story. This is the story of Colin McKenna who was the psychologist in Forbidden - book 1.

  • Secrets of a Proper Lady (Last Man Standing, Book 3)
    • Rated 4 stars

In A Little Bit Wicked, 4 gentlemen wagered one shilling apiece and a bottle of cognac that will go to the last unmarried man standing. I have enjoyed the series watching first Gideon Pearsall, Viscount Warton fall in A Little Bit Wicked, then Nigel Cavendish unwittingly stumbled into marriage in What a Woman Wants, and now in Secrets of a Proper Lady we learn that Daniel Sinclair, the American of the group, is the next. He finds himself in a déjà vu situation. Evading an arranged marriage is what brought Daniel to London and now here he is again facing a sense of duty to marry Lady Cordelia – a business arrangement between their fathers.

Lady Cordelia is determined not to marry a man that she did not choose. She pretends to be her companion -Miss Sarah Palmer - seeks out Warren Lewis - Daniel’s secretary - to glean information about her intended and is instantly intrigued with Warren. Only Warren is Daniel pretending to be Warren and decides to use this chance encounter to discover information about his intended Lady Cordelia and who becomes enamored with Miss Palmer who Lady Cordelia pretending to be Miss Palmer. Confused? Trust me before its all over so is Daniel and Lady Cordelia as they fall in love with wrong person. Or is it the right person?

I am loving this series and can’t wait for the last installment to what becomes of the last man standing. I’ve already surf the web for the last book. Victoria Alexander didn’t have it on her website, but Avon has a new site for their authors and I found the title of the last book there: The Seduction of a Proper Gentleman coming October 08 and it has been added to my Upcoming 2008 Must Read list.

Once Aidan O’Conner lived the life of the famed as a well-known celebrity, now he lives the life of a recluse by choice after those around him has betrayed him. Content in his life of solitude until a stranger comes knocking on his door. She seems familiar – someone he has seen in his dreams. Leta, a dream goddess, is forced into the human realm and into Aidan’s life. His anger and resentment will fuel her powers. Both Aidan and Leta will need to rely on the one power that neither has much of these days – trust - to defeat a mutual heartless enemy. I love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters and now Dream Hunters. This novel was not as intense as some others. It's paperback and shorter than her other novels. It was a holiday novel hence the title. I enjoyed it the Scrooge likeness to the story.

  • Best Kept Secrets (Sepia)
    • Rated 5 stars

If you have read the Hideaway series and any of the related stories, this book is a must read. The compelling story of the patriarch and matriarch of the Cole family, Best Kept Secret will create a hunger in a first time Rochelle Alers reader that can only be satisfied by reading the series from start to finish. I admit it created a need in me to re-read the series. Though I didn't have time to read all the books, I satisfied my desire with the first three - Hideaway, Hidden Agenda, and Vows.

Determined not to lose her again, Terrell sets out to convince Jade that love can be sweeter the second time around-and together, they can make all of their wishes for the New Year come true. . .

    -------------------------

I love Kayla Perrin. This book was a re-issue and I couldn't remember if I had read it or not. Either way I loved it. I always love a well written story of second chance. Terrell Edmonds tried to stop Jade from marrying the wrong man for he knew in his heart that he was the right one for her. Six years later, Jade is struggling to get back on her feet after her ex-husband has taken money and caused her business to fall. She runs into Terrell at a New Year’s Eve party and the spark is still there. This time Terrell is determined not to let the love of his life get away.

  • The Perfect Shoe (Urban Soul) (Urban Soul Presents)
    • Rated 5 stars

What style of shoe is your man? December Elliot has a shoe wardrobe to die for...a sucker for the latest and most unique footwear fashions; it's not long before she finds herself in financial trouble, constantly spending money on not just shoes, but anything else she believes will keep the perception of her image prestigious. Her wallet is not the only thing influenced by her fancy footwear, her method of categorizing men is also inspired by her full-fledged shoe fetish as she searches for the man she calls The Stiletto— the ultimate sexy shoe. Versatile—can dress up a simple pair of jeans, and at the same time turn every head at the Chamber of Commerce's annual gala. Unique—not found in every woman's closet (or bedroom). Complementing—adds incredible sex appeal to her already stunning package, 5'8", creamy, warm, caramel complexion, and body measurements that could have inspired Carl Carlton's Bad Mamma Jamma. In her quest for her Stiletto, she tries on a few other styles which aren't quite the right fit: The Workday Pump—a practical and sensible brother, offering no bells or whistles. The House Shoe similar to a grease spattered slipper, he's too embarrassing to be seen with in public. The Flip-Flop—he offers nothing more than the noise of empty promises and broken commitments. Will December ever find The Perfect Shoe?
    --------------------------------------
This book was an absolute delight and much better than I thought it would be. I loved the concept of the comparison of shoes and men. There is a Shoe Dictionary you must read.
The story was realistic and believable. The heroine was someone all women could relate to. I am cutting my entries short to finish today, but I am doing the book a disservice. Great book and a must read. This is another book that proves that not all urban is off my list. I have definitely been missing out.

  • A Blazing Little Christmas: Holiday Inn Bed\His For The Holidays\Dear Santa... (Harlequin Blaze)
    • Rated 4 stars

Holiday Inn Bed by Jacquie D'Alessandro, His for the Holidays by Joanne Rock, Dear Santa… by Kathleen O'Reilly

Each one of these stories was great and unique from the other. Jacquie D'Alessandro’s tale of an engaged couple with feuding families trying to get away before their frustrations begin to interfere with their love for each other. Unluckily for them, their families follow and get stuck at the lodge with them. With a Do Not Disturb sign, these two try their best to keep their love intact and save the marriage plans. Joanne Rock spins a tale of second time around sex, revenge, love, regrets and passion. After a weekend of one night stands, can these two find that love is a remedy for the past? Finally Kathleen O’Reilly tells a tale we all wish would happen to us. If you had a crush on the sexy bad boy in school, Dear Santa will appeal to you. I enjoyed them all.
