  • The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics
    • Rated 5 stars

I originally saw this book on youtube, presented as a short film which was aired in 1965 by MGM and won the Academy Award for Short Film that year.

When I first saw it I fell in love with the story, a classic romance told as a continued metaphor of lower mathematics. The plays on words are intriguing and entertaining, and every time I watch or read this, I find new meaning in it.

It may seem like a simple children's story, but this book definitely has meaning. Common terms are applied in ways that made me see life and imagination in ways that I never had before. It is definitely a book which I will read again and again.

"Frindle" is the story of a boy who sets out to make his mark on the world, and does so after standing up to and challenging accepted traditions.

It is simple to read, and shares a powerful lesson.

I don't normally read books connected with religion, but this book was highly recommended to me as "the most powerful book ever written." It lays out the realities of our world, and gives the reader a reason to be at peace. This book is the most intriguing work of nonfiction that I have ever read.
