SpeaksofRivers

My name is SpeaksofRivers--and I am a book addict.

The habit started with the company I kept in my youth. I hung out with all kinds of shady characters and they got me hooked on the stuff. Since then, my life has been a shameless flight from one literary high to another.

I have done all manner of evil things to support my... more »

I love your profile picture! I'd love that bookshelf, but it really wouldn't be practical as you'd want to limit the books you put on it so the meaning wouldn't be obliterated. At least that's what I'll tell myself so I won't yearn for it. ;-) (Actually, if I owned it, it would be exciting to decide which few, special books would rest on its shelves.)

    Hi there!
I saw that you've read couple of novels by Philippa Gregory. Did you find them interesting?

This time when your pix changed I followed my instinct and re-read your profile. It is very clever and entertaining. I must print it out and re-visit from time to time. It's interestng to consider myself a junkie...unrepentant and wallowing.

it's fine...I steal from shelves all the time. especially after i scan around on someone's shelf and trust their judgment by looking at their books in common, favorites, ratings. I always have a favorite book...sometimes they hang on for years until they are dethroned. Some of the progression has been: Catch-22, Johnny Got His Gun, The Remains of the Day, Lonesome Dove, and The Time Traveler's Wife. -John

first...I was sort of drawn to your Shelfari name for some reason. then I liked the picture. Then...I loved what you wrote on your profile. One of my first steps in shelf searching is the Books In Common to see if some of my very favorites are on the person's shelf. There were some great ones- White Oleander (have you read Paint it Black by her?. I think I liked it even as much), Memoirs of a Geisha, Life of Pi, Remains of the Day (I see Ishiguro's, Never Let Me Go is on your Plan To Read shelf- I suggest it highly), Watership Down. You also have The Time Traveler's Wife on your Plan to Read shelf. That is one unique...fasinating...in my top 10 ever. I quickly saw your taste and judgment were to be trusted so now i need to take time and study your shelf...especially your favorites....for ones to steal from you and place on my Plan To read Shelf. Thank you for listening. -John
