“One of the best books I ever read. I read this in Germany in 1963, and I always felt that certain chapters would be a great play or screenplay. Someone, stupidly, made a movie of this, and it was horrible.”

“Not Gladwell's best book, but interesting, nevertheless. Why do people with great intellect succeed? Is success all based on intellect, or who you know, when you were born, your parents, your economic background?”

“Another excellent book on writing. Written with clarity and an excellent sense of humor. Ann lives in Marin County, California, and she made me miss my old "hunting" grounds. She is a terrific story teller, and her anecdotes and experiences teaching writing are worth the reading, alone.”

“Recommended by my descriptive writing teacher this month for an on line class. King tells it like it is. I don't read his novels, and the movie I rented recently on DVD (Tommyknockers, 1993) sucked greatly, so I won't be reading any of his novels. King has some issues with alcohol, God, etc., and they are obvious in this book and in his "movie". He does, however, have some good advice for writers in this book.”

“This will certainly open your eyes. The history texts I was obliged to read in school growing up made a point of leaving all or most of this OUT. Cristopher Columbus, who we celebrate on 12 October, was a thief, liar, murderer, slaver and charlatan....for example.”

“This little book, with its excellent illustrations, should be on every designers, mechanics, gadgeteers and mechanical engineers bookshelf. It clearly explains how various mechanisms work. It was recommended by a dear old friend, John Toth, that was an engineer and had several patents. I think he worked for Mr. Kamm at some point in his career.”

“If you go to Church, this will piss you off. This should be read by everyone forced to be a Catholic, Mormon, etc., by their parents...when they were NOT old enough to choose themselves. Read this and The Golden Bough to educate yourself about belief and religion.”
