Light read, enlightening and charming at the same time.

Moving final battle, devastating happenings (which make it a more realistic and less childish ending for the saga)and a brilliant questioning of the concept of "Evil character" vs "Good character".

  • Eragon

I might have loved it, had I read it 5 years ago.

The fact is, Paolini came up with imaginative scenery and characters, but the plot was not that special. I haven't read the other books in the Saga, but I suppose they'll be better, since the author was so young at the time of publishing Eragon.

Beautifully written from the very first sentence. Fantastic, epic, wonderful and memorable. Appeals to both children and adults.

  • Madame Bovary
    • Rated 3 stars

I enjoyed the portrait of Madame Bovary and the psychological description of all the characters.

The writing style strikes me as typically french, for some reason, and it sounds a bit like tale more than a novel.

In the end, however, the book seemed slightly long or anecdotic. It's quite good, but to my taste, it's overrated.

  • Breaking Dawn

I loved the Saga, including breaking Dawn. I'm not a big fun of the traditional, fairy-tale-like values it implies, but all in all it was a most entertaining piece of fantasy.

  • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I had really high expectations for it, and I loved it (although it isn't my favorite ever). Witty, sarcastic and surrealistic at the same time, I couldn't help but understand that it is mocking society in many ways.

Don't expect a thrilling plot or much of a storyline, since it's more of a series of articles glued together. Just focus on the smart humour of it.

Even though Lorenzo Silva doesn't usually write YA literature, he masters it. The same concern for roots and traveling we see in "El Ángel Oculto" is portrayed in here somehow, along with an epic story about a teenage boy who is different from everyone else; unrooted, independent, a loner who fell in love with the desert and whose strong personality prevents from settling down at home.

  • An Abundance of Katherines

A roadtrip, coming of age teen novel. Funny in a very witty way, with adorable characters.

This is basically a story about a child prodigy letting go of his obssession for doing something Great and strenghthening his friendship with his best friend by getting to know himself better.

I felt, however, that this story could have been more throughly developed and the characters could have been more real. It's a good book, but John Green has better novels.
