“I loved this story. I am a huge fan of the movie- Audrey is the best holly there could be- but this story was very different from the movie. There were a couple things that were similiar- her and Doc, her persona, the fact that she named him Fred and the scandal with Sally Tomato. But there were many things that the movie did not include.
It's beautifully written and even though she's referred to as a "phony but a real phony" you love her like you would a best friend. A unique character as any I've read, Capote did an excellent job of breaking down the character, keeping you involved in the story with blatant foreshadowing that make you wonder what he meant that by... and creating an amazing narrative character that is just as endearing as Holly. If he weren't recounting her life, he might be a dull person. But instead, you get to see his affection for her and his life is more interesting because of how she affected it.
I finished the book a little meloncholy that it was over. That's an inidcator of a great story.”
