This series just gets better and better as it goes along. Jacqueline Carey has the ability to write emotions so well you feel you can reach out and touch them. Subtle and nuanced; nothing is ever straightforward in her books as in life.

Interesting supposition of what happened to Cleopatra and Ceasar's son. Thoughtful, well written account of life at the time in history.

One of the best books I've ever read about the powerful bond between women that transcend relationships or friendships. We read this as a bookclub selection and everyone saw something of themselves or the other members in this story. Beautifully written, compelling and a satisfying read.

A very good book, with a surprising sense of humour. I'm not a big fan of Eastern Canada writers, as they tend to be a bit grim but Ami McKay definitely goes against that trend. This is an honest, touching, thoughtful book about women and birth and the magic and mystery that surrounds this most natural of occurences. It also details the struggles of midwives for respect and acknowledgement of their skills and what they can bring to the medical world. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
