Smirking Revenge

Proudly letting my girlie geek flag fly, I am a pop-culture fanatic of the best/worst kind. I am: a voracious reader and girl gamer; addicted to my iPod, most forms of music, and podcasts; am an unabashed film junkie with enough dvds to open up my own rental store; thanking sweet Brighid for DVRs; am fascinated by the arts, mythology,...more »

Hi! Just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you that the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group has chosen some good books to read and discuss together during the upcoming months. Our Group Read for the months of September/October will be The Master Butcher’s Singing Club by Louise Erdrich and the group read for the months of November/December will be Growing An Inch by Stanley Gordon West. Both books are by Minnesota authors.

I invite you to join us in reading and discussing these books. Personally, I’ve started reading The Master Butcher’s Singing Club and I think it’s going to make for a great discussion. It has some very interesting characters!

So, if you had to pick your favorite supernatural/vampire series what would it be? I'm currently reading Carrie Vaughn's Kitty series and it's fairly enjoyable. At times predictable but she's really found a good stride with the books and while they are OMG SHINY! I'm a fan.

    Hello friend :)
I am reading the book " sense and sensibility" at the moment. I have covered 10 chapters of it , but since my mother tongue is not English I could not get the whole point, I was wondering if you could summarize chapters 1 to 10 for me. Just tell me what happens from chapter 1 to 10. You know, if you do this I will truly appreciate it. I really need your help on this. I noticed you have read this book and you liked it. Do you think you can do that to me? I can do anything you want in return :) Thanks a million. I will leave my e-mail in a private message to you, so that if you'd like write to me in my e-mail. I will truly appreciate it :)

I'm am so jealous. I was trying to set up a day trip to Chicago to see her with my best friend (who luckily loves her music, too) and it just didn't work out. Dish!

I've used this icon before and since I've been doing some swimming lately, I thought it was appropriate.

I requested the entire series from my library and I'm looking forward to reading the rest. I haven't read Pet Shop yet, but I think I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the welcome! I love Neil Gaiman. He has such an amazing imagination and his work always keeps me glued to the pages. I just got his TV 2 disc set for Neverwhere from Netflix so I will be watching that tomorrow afternoon. I am hopeing it will be somewhat similar to Mirrormask (a great film). I can't wait for his new book to come out!

Thanks for the welcome...as if I needed one more group to be addicted to, but oh well! You like Lynda Barry--I'm so excited! Most people are like, "Who??" She brings tears to my eyes with how much she gets the poignancy of youth and I can't wait for her reissues so I can buy them all. I look forward to joining in the fun at the pop culture group!

Hey! thanks for the welcome :) I just found Garden Spells at a used bookstore over the weekend, but I haven't started it yet. I'm going on vacation on Friday, and will be back by the 30th. If I get to reading it (I'm going to try my hardest!) I'll let you know what I think. Talk to you soon!
