Proudly letting my girlie geek flag fly, I am a pop-culture fanatic of the best/worst kind. I am: a voracious reader and girl gamer; addicted to my iPod, most forms of music, and podcasts; am an unabashed film junkie with enough dvds to open up my own rental store; thanking sweet Brighid for DVRs; am fascinated by the arts, mythology, traveling, languages and am obsessed with anything even remotely Joss Whedon related. I am not your average dress wearing girl. But who would want to be anyway?
As far as my proud bibliophile status goes, I read a lot and it is far from unusual for me to be reading three or four books at a time. I read a bit of everything, but my favorite genre is urban fantasy with authors like Robin McKinley, Jim Butcher, Simon Green, Neil Gaiman, Patricia Briggs, and Christopher Golden. I adore Shakespeare, anything involving the fey, vampires, or a snarky sense of humor (the smirking revenge bit should clue you in). I buy books like some women buy shoes (though my shoe collection is far from itty bitty) and can never leave Barnes & Noble without buying at least one book despite the fact that I have more books than bookshelves.
If you would like to be friends, please send me a note and let me know how you discovered me, what you think we might have in common, something witty, that sort of thing.
If you can’t grace me with a quick note, I am apt to decline you. A quick note is the least you could do if we’re to be ‘friends’.
I quite enjoy: The ocean, daydreaming, vanilla tea, trees and mountains, libraries and bookstores, Nathan Fillion, humor, baby animals, Grace Kelly, urban fantasy, dresses, the theatre, dancing, tempests, fantastical creatures, cheesecake pinups, film, comics, games, roleplaying, television, Hawaiian pizza, kitties, puppies, purple, green, Stitch, pineapple, Johnny Depp, movies that make me think, pop culture, trivia, open minds and open hearts, hugs, the sunshine, traveling, Celtic culture, other cultures in general, learning new things and teaching others what I know and love, scavenger hunts, my family, magic, candy, Cate Blanchett, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Imogen Heap, and so much more.
Some things that I have avoided and will continue to do so: betrayal, extremism, closed minds, vacant eyes and hearts hearts, unexpected crowds, animal cruelty, rudeness, mosquitoes, onions and peppers, cooked spinach, excessive body hair, being bitterly cold, needles, lack of money, lack of food in the fridge and lack of gas in the car, people who absolve themselves of responsibility, bad drivers, cliques, being under appreciated, finding hair in my food, stupid policies, cruelty in any form, and lies.
About my ratings:***** I absolutely loved it. Run to the bookstore and buy it right now or at least go to the library and read it.
**** Definitely worth the read
*** Worth borrowing or buying, but it has its faults
** More faults than merits, but if you are *really* bored
* Don’t touch it. Watching paint dry is more fun.
