My name is Mari like Marie without the "e" and I like to capture life with photographs. My favorite things are books, old cameras, science fiction, zombies, post-apocalyptic stuff, astrophysics, string theory, parallel universes and time travel. I'm a total sci-fi nerd but am also terribly girly and love to bake pies and listen to 50's music... more »

This is the first food writing book I've ever read and I must say how amazing it was! David Lebovitz's writing is so engaging and funny. He seems like a lovely fun fellow. I loved reading about his mishaps as an American in Paris. It was actually really informational and if I ever visit Paris I now know some things to avoid! The book has recipes interspersed into it which correspond in some way to what he is writing about in that chapter. I didn't make anything from it but I did just bake his chocolate chip cookies and boy were they great. I was so sad when I finished this book but was cheered up when I realized that he had a blog that he updates very frequently. His blog is really like a continuation of his book. He writes the same way and blogs about his adventures in Paris and food and it's equally as lovely. I would recommend this book to lovers of Paris, adventure, baking and chocolate.

I really enjoyed this one. I couldn't put it down. The only complaint I have is about the beginning and how the event of the astroid crashing into the moon was played out and how the world reacted. I felt it was very bland, very unbelievable. I felt like there should have been MORE. I don't know if I making sense but I really would recommend this book for people who like post-apocalyptic novels even if this one is for young adults. I'm about the start the second, companion novel.

I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. It's very sappy and lovey but I couldn't put it down. Perhaps because Sam reminded me of someone I used to know.

It's a short pretty little thing but rather pointless. I really liked it anyway though!

The type of baking I love: simple, pretty, down-to-earth and yummy.

Omg what a funny, insightful, geeky book. I loved it. It's a young adult book but even though it's been four years since I've graduated high school I still find it a really great, well written book. Perfect for all the nerdy people out there, young and old especially if you're into Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galatica, Star Wars, Star Trek, gaming, science and even astronomy. Everyone will walk away feeling nostalgic about their high school lives. I highly recommend!
