Hmm - trying this again. The first one got wiped out. I read - have since I was very young. I'm also somewhat old; therefore, I'm going to have to limit the books I put up on my shelf or it will fall down under the weight!

I do a lot of on-line reading in one particular fandom, and that has taken a tremendous toll on my off-line reading time. I've made a sort of vow this year to make a bigger dent in the books piled up on my nightstand, as well as to actually read the magazines that come in rather than just piling them up.
I like Science Fiction, most fantasy, vampire stories (duh!), some "horror" in small doses (I don't find vampires horrifying - I wonder what that says about me?), the occasional mystery, police procedural, and spy novel. Once in a while I find a best seller that appeals to me and I'll try something like that. With a bit of luck, I'll come up with some recs from this community that will broaden my horizons. :)
Am still adding books - at this point, they are all going to be books that I've read. Eventually, I'll spend some time learning how to use the site and I'll divide them up into books I own, want to read, etc. - but right now all I can tell you is that I read them and remembered that I had.
I'm also not much on paying attention to the covers (that would be especially true of books I read *mumble, mumble* years ago), so as I find the book somewhere, I just add it. Doesn't meant that I've read or own that particular edition, just that I saw it first. Again, when I can get at my boxed up books and actually look at them, I may go back and be a bit more specific. Or not.
Haven't yet decided if or how to add non-fiction books - gardening books, writing/grammar books, coaching manuals, dog or horse-related books...you see where I'm going with this? lol
