That's probably the best review of The Host on this whole site. I don't remember the cave tho. I only made it to chapter 2.

I thought of it a lot from the viewpoint of the family. Like, Gregor was their son/brother, and they felt a duty towards him, that they had to love him and take care of him, but he was really just a burden and was making them miserable. People can have all sorts of things like that, whether it be a person, an object, an idea or belief, etc.
Of course, there are a lot of other ways of looking at the story too, like I think it's probably supposed to be a lot about Gregor's transformation, and what it means for him. The thing about suddenly having all of your ugly personality traits suddenly visible is interesting. I was just confused because I didn't think Gregor seemed like a bad guy. I wasn't sure why he went through the metamorphosis, or what that could symbolize. It only made sense to me if I thought about it from the family's POV.

I didn't really get it as I was reading it, but once I got to the end it made more sense. I'm still not sure exactly what it was about, because it seems like there are a number of plausible explanations, but I liked what I was able to get out of it. I liked the part about the family finally being free of the burden- I think a lot of people are keeping Gregors of some sort. You?

I browsed about Preacher series. Seems like it's my kinda thing. I learn Ennis as well gave life to CSL's Wormwood. Is that good too? But I can't get a glimpse of a single Preacher volume in my city India. There was 100 Bullets, but where are other good titles? That's sad.
