I'm the quintessential bookworm. Friends often ask me how I find time to read as much as I do. There are a few things going on there. 1. I don't work (well, I do, but only 3-5 days a month). 2. I'm the quintessential bookworm. Friends often ask me how I find time to read as much as I do. There are a few things going on there. 1. I don't work (well, I do, but only 3-5 days a month). 2. Both of my children are in school. But most importantly. . . 3. I *always* have a book with me. Doesn't matter if I'm in the kitchen cooking, in the car picking my girls up from school, waiting at the doctor's office, on the couch while my husband in watching TV, etc. As long as I have at least 5 minutes free, I'll break out the book! And it's easy to read a lot when you love it so much. The one thing I really hope I pass on to my daughters is how much I do love to read. I think that is the one prerequisite you need to conquer the world! ;-)
As for my taste in books, it's pretty varied. I will read just about any genre (except Romance) as long as it is well-written. I do not hesitate to quit reading a book I hate. I used to push through them, but there are too many good books out there to waste my time on a crummy one!
Right now my shelf is filled only with books I have read (or am in the process of reading), but don't necessarily own. I do love to buy books though. I tease my husband that I'd rather own a new book than a new pair of shoes. I tell him he's lucky -- books are cheaper than shoes. Unfortunately, I'm running out of space. . .time to buy more bookshelves! LOL
