Waltz is awesome, no argument there. Pattison...feh! I'm also going to commit sacrilege here (after all we just dissed Water for Elephants) and say I have read all three Hunger Games books and I am not in love with them! They were ok and I'm sure they will make entertaining films but I do not see where they are as superlative as everyone claims. Don't kill me.

Things are pretty good, thanks. Experiencing the normal dramas when you have a fifteen year old son (teen angst!) and an eighty nine year old father. Right now I'm in a kind of reading slump where I am really not very interested in anything. I have entirely too many books in this damn house for that to really be true-it's all attitude I figure I just have to change mine. I read Water for Elephants and liked it but was not as crazy about it as I expected to be-let me know what you think. Haven't seen the movie BTW.

Carissa, you are going to love: "The Highest Tide" by Jim Lynch is one of the most poignant, best, outrageously funny,YA coming-of-age adventure stories I've read in years. It is hilarious and brilliantly written and is the debut novel by Lynch who has an amazing imagination that should propel him to the top of the literary charts. Truly exceptional writing and pacing with major laugh-out-loud situations that will have you guffawing with each recollection. What a wonderful way to start the year...5+ stars!!!

I think The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon is on your TBR pile-that is a must read right there. As for goals-this year I have decided to be as goalless as possible and just read what IO want to when I want to. I feel good about it.

Hi Carrisa glad you like my shelf . Looking above at what your planning to read, I would read WALDEN next if I was you,(Despite the fact your other picks are super grade a+ picks) My reason being -walden is food for your soul and your mind. Its a very rewarding break from some of the heavier stuff. (just my opinion)

Currently reading Evil at Heart by Chelsea Cain.

Should finish that in a day or two and then I'll move on to How I Escaped My Certain Fate by Stewart Lee, a British stand up comedian. His stand up comedy is hilarious and I expect to be falling around with laughter as he deconstructs some of his work, explains what it's like to be the subject of a blasphemy prosecution and writes about the journey that took him from an early retirement to being a great stand up again.

I don't read all that much non-fiction, so I'm very selective about it!
