I am a Christian, a wife, a Mom of three grown kids, and a Grandma of seven. I attend an Assemblies of God Church, which is the religion my husband and I were brought up in. I have MS, so , although I can still walk most of the time, I am unable to do a lot of things. Therefore, I read. Actually, I have always been a reader, only more so...more »

Hi Sharon, I liked the two Summerhouse books. I also like Christan fiction. I love the Chronicles of the King series by Lynn Austin. It's not light reading but some of her other books are though. I love Karen Kingsbury, Francine Rivers, Sally John, and Tamara Alexander is a new favorite. What have you read for Christian fiction?

Hi Sharon. I noticed you have several of Jude Deveraux books listed. I hadn't read anything by her in a long time. THen "Return to the Summerhouse" came out this summer and I returned. :) I really liked the first one and this one as well. I also picked up "Someone to Love". Each of these has time travel in the story, which I rarely read, but enjoyed them. Summer is a great time for light and fun reading!

Sharon, your comments about Ken Follet's World Without End are right on. However, you should read Pillars of the Earth first. It is easier reading and will give you much insight when you then want to read WWE. Both are fabulous reads and deserve five stars easily. Scott

I think you should set up a blog first. It is easy. Go to my blog and click the button on there that says start a blog. (I think they have to see that you have a blog before you can get a book.) Send me your snail mail address and I'll send you one of mine...you can just post something on amazon.com if you don't want to set up a blog. Put it in a private message.... :)

    Hey Sharon,
Right now I am reading "A Voice In the Wind" by Francine Rivers. I got it at this website - FIRSTWildCard@yahoogroups.com
If you sign up to do book reviews and blogs on your blog site, you can request books of your choice that they offer on blog tours. Mine is on a tour right now and I have 2 left to give away so if you join and email me, I will send you a copy!!!
It costs nothing to belong to the FIRST group and the selection of books looks great! Francine Rivers' book is the first one I requested. I haven't belonged to the group very long. All you have to do is write a blog about the books you read to help the author get the word out about their books.
No postage, no cost!! Cool huh! if you don't have a blog - google blogs are easy to set up. You can go to mine and set one up from the icons on the page! nansjourney.blogspot.com.
Let me know what you think.

    Dear Sharon,
A million thanks for your lovely post. I'm so glad that you are on the mend with your spine and the pain has disappeared. Indeed, you can say that again! I remember splitting huge pain when I got my crooked toes operated back in 1991. I have never been so infuriated with a surgeon in my whole life :-)) The doctor told me that bones surgery is the most painful ones. Therefore, I can understand you perfectly.
WOW ! Your trip to Sedona sounds wonderful !
What are you reading right now? I am lots of books for summertime that I feel far behind my chores... but my hubby is helping me a lot.
I love knitting too. I gave up cross-stitching many, many years ago... it reminds me of my first work when I was a child. I went to a nun's school and Mother Rosario taught me basic patterns and all the stuff. I did some kitchen's frannels for my family and cushion's case with flowers and fruits. My best work was a horse's head that I gave to my mom for her birthday. Lovely memories !
That's all for now... we are going to have lunch... yummie
    Big hugs,
    Elisabeth

    Dear Sharon,
I feel so sorry for my silence during these weeks. Can you forgive me? I has been cramming for my language final exams. I passed with great marks but I was too nervous in my English oral exam.
I'm reading a lot in English. Right now I'm finishing "The Gathering" by an Irish woman author and a fun read "Apples" by a Londonian young geek. I'm learning colloquial and slang words.
Saturday we had a school party here and we enjoyed a musical evening in spite of bad weather. In two weeks my younger daughter will be on summer holiday, so I'm glad both we are going to swimming a lot, watching movies, playing the piano and spending great time the whole family. I love gathering my little family.
Two weeks ago we went to the movie theatre and at last, we saw "Indiana Jones and the crystal skull". I'm keen on maya history and culture, so I liked the movie dealt with it.
Well, that's all for now. These were the news from my corner of the world. What about yours? I hope you are very well in the way of a total recovery from your surgery.
Take it easy, chill out and have great time,
    Your spanish friend,
    Elisabeth

I'm so sorry you have been going through so much, Sharon. Now is the time, however, to reach out to your sisters in Christ. Members of the group will pray for you if you let them know what's going on! What kind of back surgery did you have? I'm supposed have it done too, and I'm really procrastinating.

The book list is in the "Christian Fiction Read - Time to Vote" post. We have come up with quite a few great choices, so please vote for your top five.

    God bless you real good!

Hi Sharon! I am happy to accept your friend invitation. Like you I have pretty strong views in some areas, but I am very thankful for forums like this where we can openly discuss our thoughts. I noticed that you have a lot of books on your shelf...mine is still a work in progress :). Are there any favories that would be your top recommendations? Many thanks!
