    The Outsiders

Few books are as timeless as this. While the time period is set generations ago, the feelings, forces, and actions today could be in South Dallas. Switchblades, greaser hair, socs. ...are almost props to the underlying story of youth.

Understanding the Old Testament (Abridged 4th Edition)

No better book on the world to put the OT into a comprehensive historical context erasing the confusion caused at times by the story of two kingdoms told alongside each other. A must for any Biblical scholar.

If you enjoy 1960s science fiction this can be an entertaining read. Just as political as A Specter Haunting Texas" and other civil rights era satire.
